Around SBN: Roy Nelson Willing to Pay for His Next Opponent's Drug Test

Dissapointed in many Dolphans these day

Hi all, I rarely post and when i do is usually very short, however I frequent this site for a few reasons mainly Matty does a great job here and there a many very knowledgeable Dolphins fans here that write many great posts.

I am sad that we have so many people acting like the world is ending because we our out of the playoff race, and just pointing fingers at anyone they can blame for it.

i just wanted to point out a few things and give peopel something to think about before they jump on the make wholsale changes bandwagon.

Star-divide

1st The QB situation:

Is Henne the guy???? Just don't know, I don't see how anyone can say he has been used correctly, he has been put into a tough situation that he wasn't ready for ( no running game, being asked to carry the team to often).

It looks like he can be a good starter maybe not great, but I feel a better OC/QB coach and gameplan could do wonders for Chad. Look at 4th qtr vs Buffalo... Sure looked like TS said Chad we need you to score points let it fly we know you can do it kid.... Henne played very well in after Buffalo scored to get to 17Pts, he got us back in the game and in a shockingly rare terrible game by DC$ we lose.

Can't say he is or isn't the guy, but look at Matt Cassel and Jay Cutler last year, Cassel was plain bad, many though BB got one over on Pioli in that deal, this year they bring in Weis and Cassel looks like a very good QB.

Culter was the defenses best friend last season a turnover machine, Chicago was blasted for getting him because he was just bad last year, bring in Martz and now Cutler is a weapon on offense and is QB of a division leading team right now a #2 seed in the NFC.

Head coach situation:

Tony Sparano is under fire because of a rumor that the Chin would like to be the HC in Miami and that Nolan will get a HC offer someplace else if we don't make him HC.

Tony Sparano has overall done a very good job in Miami, the players play hard for him we are almost never blown out of games, his players respect him and he gets them to do what they need to do. How many other teams are begging for a HC that can do that.

He is being lumped in with Henning as being to conservative: In Dallas when TS was OC and di the gameplaning Dallas was not an ultra conservative offense they passed the ball downfield to TO, Witten and Co often and did something Sparano loves run the ball with the lead in the 4th qtr effectively for 1st downs eating up the clock and beating down the opposing defense.

I really don't thing TS is a problem he works hard to make himself and the staff accountable just like the players are, he just won't do it pubically and will wait until the season is over to make the adjustments he believes the team/staff needs.

Front Office:

I for one have been pretty darn impressed with this FO with or without BP Irleand has the ability to stock a team with talent.

I keep see we let Smiley, Grove and Thomas go and now our Line sucks ( directed ant TS and JI ).

OK where is Grove right now what ahs he done all season?????? If we kept him I am pretty confident he would have been injured by now.  Ok Smiley he is injured and not playing... Sound familiar. Donald Thomas was recently picked up by someone after spending most of the season at home.

IMO the biggest difference from last year is Garner is hurt he was what kept the line going last year with all the injuries, his loss the preseason was a HUGE blow the the OL. IMO he would have started this season.

This FO as added the following list of players by draft, Free Agency, waivers, or just flat out off the street in the past 3 offseasons without mortgaging our future to get these players.

All these players are starters or major contributors as rotation guys or ST standouts.

Jake Long, Chad Henne, Chris Clemons, Dan Carpenter, Brian Hartline, Kendal Langford, Philip Merling, Rashad Jones, Nolan Carroll, Koa Misi, Karlos Dansby, Brandon Marshall, Vonte Davis, Sean Smith, Tony McDaniel, Devon Bess, Cam Wake, Randy Starks and Lou Polite.   ( others that have been or could be Odrick, CP10 )

Yet we here the singed Wilford, drafted White etc. I can find far more that this FO has done to improve this team thab faults. 20/20 looking back a drafts will make every team look bad seeing who they could have drafted.

We have 18+ starters significant players on this team that the FO brought in the past 3 years. We are young and improving.

Just another thing to think about. last offseason everyone wanted a NT, Solia was garbage and couldn't do the job when asked to last year. so the FO moved Starkes to NT, and that was looking good until Odrick gets injured.

Solia starts getting more time at NT plays well and eventually becomes the starter, out coaching staff allowed this to happen, now Solia looks like the answer at NT.   player develope some take longer than other Solia took 4 years!

Players that disappointed this season may make that breakthrough next year, do you want then to do it as a Dolphin or and a player for NE ( they love grabbing our developing guys ).

Just to put a little perspective on things there are quite a few teams that would love to trade issues with Miami, all in all we have a pretty good thing going right now as far a team talent, who we have big contrcts with, coaches etc.

Sorry for the typos I know they are in here, It's my thing i am good at it.

Thanks, I obviously could be wrong in my opinions, but so could any of us, I really believe he has not been used correctly, and the state of our OL and offense in general is hurting him.
Weather or not he can be a good qb is just a big question mark right now.

I agree with you.

I am not ready to give up on Henne yet. I hope he wakes up one day this offseason and just has IT. Comes into camp a world beater and takes the Phins to the promised land. Good post Bro.

Great Post!

We are a young team and Henne is only 25. I think our coaches are not that good except Nolan. Lets fix the coaching and offense, give Henne another shot but get a proven veteran QB just in case he can’t preform well next year. We are very close of having the talent to win a SB, especially the D which could be #1 next year with Oldrick and Allen returning. We should not bank on drafting a QB and try on developing him next year because we are so close to greatness, plus we can’t draft a 1st round QB anyway next year, no pick.
