PrintThe Sun was more than half way down, but it was obscured by an very overcast day here in Columbus, Ohio. The clock read 3.59pm on my office phone, which was still flashing because I've been too lazy to check my voice messages all day. You see, I'm at work, and I"m spacing out..... I'm thinking about the holiday upcoming, and really not focused on work right now.
But then my phone buzzes.... and its my Google Voice account, which means either its a business referral, or its a friend I'll talk to anytime.....so I instinctively grap my phone.
"This is Shane" ** for those of you who didn't, know, I'm Shane
"Dude its Griffin, How the hell are you?" ** For those of you who don't know, Griffin is OhioFinFan4Life.
.....and so begins a conversation with someone I actually met, right here on this particular forum. Someone who I've shared a beer with here in my town, and had the pleasure of tail gating with at the Cincinnati game, where I also met his lovely wife, and many other Fin Fans.
Griffin asks how I'm holding up, with my current circumstances....and I let him know I'm doing well... You see, the great thing about OFF4L, is that even though we don't know each other all that well, you can tell he actually cares when he asks you these kinds of questions..... and he'll listen if you actually talk to him.... :)
But thats not why he's calling.....because today, Griffin transcends everyone here...and he utters it in 6 simple words.
"Dude, I'm going on the Field"
The same Field Dan Marino threw TD passes on.
The same Field the Wildcat ran over everyone on.
The same field that Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas dominated on.
Yes, Our own OhioFinFan4Life, has been invited onto the Field at Halftime at the next Home Game.
Griffin! We expect to see a ton of Pictures.....smell the grass, take in the roar of the crowd, and live in the moment bro. You're the fan we all love to read about.
*** Griff will obviously chime in here, but he's a hunt and peck typist, so I thought I'd get it done for him. Let the man know how we feel about his exploits and how we love to see his pictures and commentary. Unfortunately, too often when he shares his story, the Fan Posts gets shoved down from all the Chicken Little Whiney Beyotch posts....

Griffin is the man.
Wish I had the passion,(or the resources) to do it like he does. I do enjoy reading about which game he was at and how his experiences were. I will definitely be on the look out for the next post and how it felt to be on the battlefield. Good job guys.

Yeah. You guys need a QB coach and an OC, but you don't want a guy that is going to completely rewrite the playbook.
New terminology and all of that. That can set the offense back a year. That’s a tough call.
Our OC, Bill O’Brien (BoB for short) was horseshit last year. We changed his nickname to BooB. He started off the same way this year with some hot and cold games, and now he’s grown into the role. Of course, having Hoodie (a coach that can coach coaches) helps a great deal.
Could be Henning just needs time and leadership.

Henning has been too conservative for decades.
I don’t think leadership is what he needs as much as a swift kick in the ass or a pink slip (preferably both).
Tony Sparano also doesn’t seem like the leading type.

Fro, one half of The Phin Addicts, called me around 2:45 today. I didn’t think much of it, probably wanted me to bring something to the tailgate I thought. “What’s up ?”. He replied, " can you be at the stadium by 9:30 on Sunday?". I thought this was odd as I’m always there by 9 and ready to get my groove on. "Yeah,…why ? " . We ( The Deep End ) have to be there for practice at 9:30,….
What the hell do you mean practice ?? He goes on,…The Dolphins our honoring us at halftime, he continues on about something that we are cheering on some little kids football game ON THE FIELD AT HALFTIME !!!! After some conversation about my disbelief, he instructs me to be on time. He added on final thing,….make sure your do your hair the same way,….they loved it ! Who is “they” I thought ??
I took a minute and then called Stripe, the other half of The Phin Addicts. I was hyped out of my mind to his calm & cool disposition. I said is this for real ? He responded, “are you part of The Deep End family ?” I feel like I am, I said. "No,…are you part of The Deep End family ???!!! " Yes, I am ! Correct he said,….now go breath & enjoy the moment.
Last Sunday I was on the jumbotron,…now I’m going onto the field as part of some celebration. WTF !!!!! What’s next, a dinner with Don, play catch with Marino, fishing with Csonka,….

Now it begs to question, what to wear ?? I have a White Henne,…..maybe. The white OFF4L T-shirt,….too Ohio for this occasion. The same aqua T-shirt I wore last game,…not my style to go back to back. A new jersey ?? Could be, and the obvious choice would be Wake or Dansby. But some inside tells me I need to run down a Crowder.

I think
John Denney would be epic, Fields would be a good choice as well. The other options would be Wake (DPOY support), Carpenter (an endorsement after last week) or Henne (if you support him, as he is losing support and fast).
Denney or Kevin Curtis would be the 2 most outside the box. Denney will be in Miami for a while longer where Curtis probably only has 2 games left with Miami. Personally, if it was me, I would go with what I already have and wear my Dansby jersey.

But truth be told wear what ever feel great its your day as being an AWESOME FAN!!!!
