Fr8 Train - A LONG Dose of Reality (Rant Style)

Before I start the Rant, I find the need to address a certain subset of the Phinsider Population that are absolutely making me sick.  Yes, you moronic, temper tantrum, spineless children, I'm talking to you.

I'm absolutely sick of what you've turned this blog into.  It makes my stomach regurgitate my last meal.  The Chicken Little routine is so over, you've now graduated to the Gods have shit on your pillow..... Look, grow the f- up.  Stop the little temper tantrums.  There isn't a person on this blog, or in the entire world that cares that you will no longer "Root for the Dolphins".  No one.  Want a shoulder to cry on?  Call your Mom.  We don't need you to come here and piss and moan and talk about giving up on a team you've spent the last eleventy-billion years rooting for.  We don't.  You were never a fan.

A real fan takes his lumps.  A real fan understands the game, and not Madden.  This is football, there is no crying.  Again, we're not here to give you a nipple to suck on when you are crying like a child.   If that is all you are planning on bringing to the discussion here.....save it.  Or call you buddy and cry to him.  We don't want to hear it.

HOWEVER..... if you can stop the tears long enough to put on your Big Boy Pants, and write a good article that breaks down the team's deficiencies, mistakes, and find a way to be critical but adult......have at it.  Those are usually the best.  However, if you want to whine about your emotions, call a Psychotherapist, they get paid to listen to your pathetic little crybaby flip outs.

The Rant after the Jump  (Why exactly is the jump here anyway?)

As I was writing this, I came across this nugget on ProFootballTalk.

Tony_sparano_sm_medium

"I think that Dan Henning, for Tony Sparano, has been tremendous," Sparano said. "I think the guy has done a wonderful job during my time here."

"I look at the entire body of work, you guys just look at the last three or four games," Sparano told reporters. "I look at the whole body of work and this guy has done a tremendous job."

You want to know what I make of that?   Its delusion.  Its the difference between winning and losing.   When we are down by 3 points, on our own 20, with only 41 seconds to go, we have a Head Coach, and an Offensive Coordinator that believe its okay to run a formation, with 2 RB's in the backfield..... Not split out, not but in the backfield.  Its a losing philosophy, and its not just Henning that I hold responsible.  Mr. Sparano, your time has come and gone.  I'm couldn't care less who much the players like you, because you coach a losing style, and can't recognize that its not just your staff that is costing us victories, but your staff is a reflection on you.

Chad_henne_sm_medium

Chad Henne.  The starting QB for the Miami Dolphins in 2011.

I said it once before in the season, and I was immediately wrong.  Within a day of making that declaration Henne was pulled in favor of Chad Pennington....only to retake his position 2 snaps later.

Do you know why he'll be back in 2011?  Because he was set up for failure, and instead produced mediocrity.  Despite the fact that we have an Offensive Coordinator AND a Head Coach that don't have the killer instinct, and don't play to win......despite also having a questionable Offensive Line, 2 aging running backs that don't scare anyone, AND with 3 undrafted rookies, a guy who hasn't caught more than 10 passes in a season since 2008, who also had no time to learn the playbook, formations, etc.... and HE STILL passes for 276 yards, and a 73% completion percentage.

Despite his mediocrity this season, he's been hamstrung by a numerous things beyond his control (coaching, conservative play calling, the Wildcat, and a horrible OC)

Is he a Franchise QB?  Hell if I know.  Does he make dumb throws occasionally?  Absolutely.    Has he shown he can carry the team?  Yes.  So what happens when the restrictions are lifted, and we get an aggressive minded coach?   I don't know.  But I know this, Tyler Thigpen can't win a starting position, even when Chad is playing bad.

I know there is a no way we get a 1st round Quarterback in the draft.  Anyone worth taking is going to be gone, and we do not, nor will we be able to obtain, enough trading power to move up and grab anyone.  So throw that out.

Free Agent QB's?  Sounds like Vick and Kolb will remain in Philly.  Orton might be available, but he'd be a stop gap and not a long term answer.    Hasselback?  Absolutely not.    McNabb?  Hell no.

So, since we won't be moving up in the draft, and there are no significant upgrades at QB.... the de facto starter of the 2011 Season for the Miami Dolphins remains, Chad Henne.

Like it or not....and I'm still on the fence......HE's the guy.

btw for you guys talking about how he locks onto a receiver?
8 Different Receivers caught a pass against Buffalo.....You don't spread the ball around like that if you lock onto anyone.  Just something for you stew on.

Ronnie_brown_sm_medium                   Ricky and Ronnie.  Ricky_williams_sm_medium

There is no longer any "Express" in this R&R pairing.  I'm taking them off life support, this duo is dead.

They scare no one.

One of them will return next season, and it'll come down to money.  For me, that means Ricky's coming back.  He'll be cheaper.  I've been back and forth on this a lot, but I think now if I had my druthers I'd definitely want Ricky back.

The absence of Ronnie Brown means the likely departure of the dreaded Wildcat.  We'll maybe have a couple plays a game, but it'll go back to being a gimmick, instead of a drive killer.  I'd be okay seeing it rarely, in the right situations (goal line mostly), but no more in the middle of a long drive.

We need fresh legs, and that'll come in the draft.... along with some new Offensive Linemen.  _________________________________________________________________________________________

Brian Hartline

There is no longer a question about your impact on this offense.  Are you a super stud Wide Receiver?  Nope.

But the impact you make on the opposing defenses with our current offense is noticed when you aren't around.

You've hopefully at least silenced a little bit of the Wallace and Moore folks, since they've done absolutely nothing in your absence.  Not to mention the team picked up a guy who hasn't played in forever, and is coming off cancer surgery to replace you, instead of keeping them in the lineup and giving them game reps.....

Finally....Can anyone around here explain to me, why, in the name of all that is holy, are we asking for backups to replace our starters?   Why?   What in god's name makes you think the backups are going to come in and do better?

Even more, why are we looking for other teams backups to replace our starters?  You all do realize its a rarity that it ever plays out positively right?  It just doesn't happen.

I've got more, but this is getting pretty long...... maybe I'll make it a 2 parter......
