Put this guy in.
Lex Hillard RB
Anyone remember the video going around showcasing Hillard on pass blocking in Miami this off season? I wanted to show it again but it has disappeared off the internet. For those who didn't see the video It showed the best pass protection I've seen from a running back. He would completely take a his guy out of the play and bought Chad Henne extra time in the backfield last year. These plays also happen to occur on some of the biggest offense plays last season. This year we all know the O-line is struggling. So I keep scathing my head wondering why this guy isn't on the field on clear passing plays while other RB's are. It makes no sense. The only reason I really liked Lex is because of his pass blocking. It's pure dominance. He's also a good lead blocker for our running backs. In addition, he has soft hands and is a pass catching threat from the backfield. He's a situational player that isn't seeing the field in the situations he excels at. What gives? Lex Hillard needs more playing time. Is he the answer to our problem with pass protection? No. But he is an upgrade over the other backs. I want to see #26 on the field more often.
He doesn't go low and trip up the defender. He gets under their shoulder pad and pushes them back. No matter the size advantage of his opponents.
