Playoff Scenario

Hey everyone, before you all say this is stupid and that we have no chance at the playoffs, let me say it. This is pretty useless, but as long as we are mathematically alive, we should take a look. I went through the NFL Playoffs Machine on ESPN.com and checked. Here's what needs to happen.

  1. We must win our final three games. We'll be favored in the first two (Buf, Det) and while the last game is against the Patriots, it's very possible they could have the AFC #1 seed wrapped up, so they may rest some players for parts or all of that game.
  2. The Jets must lose week 17 to the Bills and at least one other game. Because of the tiebreaker scenarios, even if they lost the next two weeks (Pit, Chi) but beat the Bills, they'd finish ahead of us.
  3. The Chargers must lose one game. They are also 7-6 and if they win out, they would win a tiebreaker against us via conference record. If they don't lsoe, we would need the Chiefs to lose one, maybe two games. Basically, we don't want the Chiefs AND Chargers to win out.

There might be another scenario based on if Baltimore loses tonight but for now, the above is pretty much what needs to happen.

We also need whoever loses next week's Jags/Colts game...

..to lose another game. And don’t count on New England resting starters if they have the #1 seed clinched by week 17. They might…but I wouldn’t be on it.

Not for us anyways

You never know

Don’t they hate the Jets more?

They hate the Jets because they are loudmouthed bastards

They hate us because they almost never sweep us, even when we’ve been at the bottom and they at the top.

after welker tearing his ACL last year in week 16 or 17, and then they lose in the playoffs...

I expect them to realize that they can’t afford another big time injury to him or maybe wilfork…I actually do expect them to rest players if they have 1st place clinched by then.

Wilfork...

such a perfect name for a Nose Tackle.

I am more worried about winning the next two games then

the Patriots game. The Phins have been horrible at home this year. If we do win the games against Buffalo and Detroit, I think we will be the Pats. Hopefully the Jets crash and burn! That would make me almost as happy as Miami getting into the Playoffs.

also

for baltimore, we need them to win one more game only. if they win 2, they are ahead of us. this season for miami is gonna come down to the pitt and cleveland loss in my opinion even if we go 10-6

Two wildcard spots. I am assuming Baltimore wins one. We need to finish ahead of the Jets.
