Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Cameron Wake. His two sacks Sunday came in the clutch, late, and were important in the Dolphins' 10-6 win. He may be a dark horse for it, but he's forcing himself into the Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Not sure how the leading pass rusher can be a Darkhorse for DPOY

Hall is leading ints with 7, not exactly a prodigious year for Ints.

yeah. he definitely shouldn't be a dark horse

to believe that he hasn’t really been in consideration or discussed about throughout the season seems absurd, right?

and what's sad is...

his best sack didn’t count as a sack, on whats his name wildcat guy… Brad Smith I guess. That is what would have earned my vote, didn’t miss a shot to get a speed demon in the back field.

by erizzle on Dec 13, 2010 12:29 PM EST reply actions

If Wake didn't make the extra effort, Smith probably gets that on second effort

Many OLBs would have gotten around like that, but few ever have the wherewithal to follow through on the play.

true that.

i felt soooooo good for Seanie yesterday. hes really had a tough year. From the benching at the beggining of the year in favor of jason to now its been hard. MAny people seemed to have been shouting that Sean needs to go. In fact ive kinda been one of them. ive critcized his play recognition. His tackling has been aweful. and his technique in pass coverage. last week against Cleveland for example he got 18 reps on Ben Watson man on man. Of those 5 were completions. And three on technique problems. One especially was horrifiying. i feel really good for him right noow

DPOY!

He’s a force. He gets doubled teamed and still breathes down QB’s necks. How many pressures did Wake have?

King has been on Wake bandwagon for a while now

DPOY? Might be too much to ask. We probably should try to win 9 or 10 games for him to have a chance.

If this D can keep the turnover mojo going

We’ve got a highly probable shot at going 9-7, regardless of offensive play.

I'm still saying we could go 10-6.

Gonna take a fortnight at least to get this herd down to St. Louis on Mississippi. This glen's gonna be tough to traverse, and that river's got to be 50, 60 meters wide. And God knows how many fathoms. To hell with parliamentary procedure. We've got to wrangle up some cattles!

I think Brady would fake an injury if it meant us winning gets into PO and Jest go home.

Usually the leading sacker gets DPOY consideration,

but he really does deserve consideration, but since I’m the OWF I am biased, of course.

Patriots fan here

Just wanted to say thank you for making my day and beating those lousy jets, clearly you had that team frustrated if their assistants are tripping players running down the sideline. Oh yea and I stopped by to give props to Cameron Wake…that dude is BEAST mode. He just doesn’t stop. Ever.

Thanks dude, now just tell your team to win the next two games, clinch the #1-seed, and lay down for us in week 17. Thanks.

Peter King?

I’m shocked that Peter King knows any Dolphins player (or much of anything aside from the ENTIRE Starbucks menu).

Yeah, he knows Dan Marino

Has Cameron Wake this year been better than JT in his prime?

Just sayin’. I’m not comparing careers. I’m comparing dominance over the course of a season. I can’t decide myself.

not yet

JT had 18.5 sacks and 7 forced fumbles in "02.

Plus a ton of damn good other years.

the best part is

He’s almost single handedly answered one of the questions we had about our team at the beginning of the season….how would we replace the production of taylor and porter.

Tbh,I don’t know if there are awards for coordinators, but with the production he’s getting from not only Wake, but Clemmons,Jones,Dansby,Solai, and pretty much everyone,Nolan needs recognition of some kind…

by dolphinfan4lyfe on Dec 13, 2010 8:39 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Hopefully not the kind of recognition that will land him an HC job next season!

Although his time at SF may keep buyers away.

"The first thing I do when I get out of bed and feel the jolt in my knees is think of Roy Winston. On the second step, my calcified Adam's apple starts bobbing, and I think of Carl Eller. A few more steps in the dark and it's Willie Lanier. By the time I get to the bathroom, I'm flashing back to Dick Butkus and Ray Nitschke. And when the light finally comes on, I just hope that somewhere in the darkness they're thinking of me, too" - Larry Csonka.
