Ok, I've defended Dan Henning quite a bit on this site, but I'm ready, not to go back on what I've said, but maybe approach it from a different angle.
I don't enjoy seeing "Henning is a douche....etc", and think that's completely unwarranted, but now that Henne, Sparano and others are being complained about, perhaps I can see that OC is the necessary change.
I would hope that we look at the fact that under Sparano, we are, at least, a very tough team to beat. Calls to sack Sparano(and there have been some) are ridiculous in my opinion, but maybe he needs an OC with a very different outlook to his. Let Sparano instill the toughness and a new OC the flair.
Much the same could apply to Henne. I think he lacks the instincts that you see in some quarterbacks, but that doesn't mean he can't be very good for us. There are also calls for Henne to be dropped, and I think these are equally absurd.
The last 2 games have been poor performances, even though we beat the Bengals. I still have optimism for the season, but I'm ready to concede, not to the Henning haters, but to those who think a change in style is what's needed.
If only to see less negatives about Sparano, Henne etc.
We know the talent in our team. Let's hope it can spark into life starting next weekend.
