I truly believe we are not giving Ronnie the ball to hurt his free agent value

Omar Kelly suggested this way back when and I thought it was preposterous, but I now see that it is very real. I don't believe Ronnie has gotten more than 20 carries all year. Remember when he was our guy? When the only thing that stopped him was freak injuries? This game was the best example. Ronnie absolutely gashed the Ravens and scores in the first and he gets a whopping 3 carries the rest of the game. Usually the problem is feeding Ricky for no real reason other than to justify the "platoon" but this game was an exception. The guy is too much of a talent to not be the focal point of the team. How can you still claim to be a running football team when you don't? Enough passing on 3rd & 2 guys. If you want to be a passing offense, admit it and call some actual good pass plays. Not the same short routes we called in 08 with Penne and no wideouts.  I'm sick of this.

I don't think the Fins give a rats @ss about Ronnie's FA value

The fact is Ricky has been outperforming Ronnie most of the year. Not to mention Henning is a imbecile. There is absolutely no reason for Ronnie not getting the ball more no more than he did after that 1st drive.

Only one game did this happen all year

His running style compliments the line better but he hasn’t been outperforming him

Bottom line is...

Henning needs to GTFO of football, and the Dolphins FO can show him the way this morning, as far as I’m concerned. He’s a fucking disgrace.

As for Ronnie…I hate to admit it, but Ricky HAS been the better back of late, for the most part.

Yeah

he did, and he can go back there anytime he wants. I’m sure we’d all chip in for his moving expenses if that meant he was out of Miami.

I think Ricky has been the better back in a lot of games

Yesterday was just pure stupidity from Henning.

I will say, though, that if this was the case, everyone from Ireland on down should be sacked. Wins > Saving Money.

Ireland is safe for now, because of his contract, right?

I feel like Ireland knows enough about football to be a service to us, but the coaches…yikes. We’ll find out how good Ireland really is if the coaching staff is let go or not after the season.

No Conspiracy - that's lunacy

I predict we let Ronnie go sign elsewhere after this year, and it won’t be because we can’t afford him.

Most running backs are done after 5 to 6 years, especially if they’ve had injuries. Time to move on

Nobody hurt a tackler like Zonk did.

Ronnie has not been running well all year

He was running through holes his GM could have run through yesterday so it was a tribute to the OL. He has not looked like the Ronnie of old in quite a while. I can’t remember the last time he actually broke a tackle. We need to think about getting some young legs in this upcoming draft and let Ronnie find another home. I love Ronnie so this has everything to do with his production and the way he has been playing.

Look I'll agree Ronnie has been lackluster at times

But he has NEVER gotten into a rhythm this year because of the utterly absurd platoon system we run. Notice when we get deep in the endzone we always opt to pass? Ronnie only scored yesterday because it was a rather long run.

Look I’m not going conspiracy on you guys but I think that is an element of why our running game is slumping. That and Dan Henning is a moron

I disagree

Rythem or not, you have to run well when your number is called. He dances too much and therefore when he gets hit he has not momentum to fall forward or break a tackle. If there is not hole then you you have to run hard and at least gain positive yards. Like I said, there are plenty of backs in the league who will at least break a tackle or two and gain some extra yards. Can you remember any times Ronnie has done that out of the backfield, or even after he catches a ball?

He's broken hella tackles this year

And This line is a far worse Run blocking line than last year. Last year Ronnie was amazing and on pace for a great year, but the injury. Our line has been pretty bad this year so RIcky’s style suits it better

I view it like putting a Running QB behind a terrible O-Line. He’s not better than the pocket passer but he works better for that Line. Ronnie and Ricky are the same in that regard. With Ronnie, the patient style may not cut it when your line is getting mauled, but when they are working, he’s in the zone. Ricky, whom I love, is nothing more than a straight hill runner at this point. There is no way he should be getting 50-50 split in carries with Brown.

Look I agree he should hit the hole harder at times but I can hardly attribute his less than stellar play BECAUSE of him.

Okay, we are seeing things differently

I have to take your word for it because I have watched every game and I really can’t remember the last time he broke a tackle. I don’t understand what you are talking about as far as the line not suiting his patient running style. Running patiently is letting your blockers set up their blocks and not blowing by them. It doesn’t mean dancing behind the line of scrimmage because you are unsure where to go. It is not easy for any O-Line to sustain blocks so staying behind the line of scrimmage will get you tackled. If you are correct about Ronnie and the line then he needs to be smart enough to change his style and hit the hole faster. That would be the logical thing to do. 3 yards is better than none.

He breaks tackles but he doesn't get anywhere

He turns a 3 yard loss into a 1 yd gain in that regard. I’ve watched every game as well.

The issue is the blocks just aren’t getting set up. We can all agree McQuistan is terrible and his position is most important to a RB’s success. Incognito has been underwhelming and Berger is a downgrade. RIcky just runs straight before anything develops on either side of the ball which will allow some sizable gains at times.

He should hit the hole harder though. I agree

Yeah I was a little upset we let Grove go

I think he was a big part of our running success. I like Incognito but I think what we are missing in Smiley is that ability to pull that Incognito is lacking. McQuistan, well….yeah, Jerry needs to come back and continue to grow. I see your point but he still doesn’t look like the same player to me.

I don't think thats the reason, but I don't know why he isn't getting the ball.

I missed this game because I had to work (On Sunday, I know it sucked), but when saw the stats I could not understand why he only got 9 carries. It wasn’t even like he was getting shut down as evidenced by his 6.6 yards per carry. I just dont get it. It must be Henning’s fault.

When in doubt, blame Henning. Just fire his ass already.

I was thinking “Ronnie will finally get 100 yards!” I should’ve known better with this regime and bogus platoon system
