Ronnie Brown – The True Definition of a Team Player

*NOTE* This is a very long post, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it for you, the fans of The Miami Dophins!

It is no secret that Ronnie Brown has not done much this year. It is also no secret that he has been “injury prone” during his tenure here with the Dolphins. I would also go as far to say that for his draft position, that he is in fact a “bust”, Now in no way has he been a “true bust” – I am just saying that from being the Number Two overall pick, he has been. Did he ask to be drafted number two overall? No. Is it his fault? No. The man has had some real “freak injuries” during his career. Now I am on to my post about him and why he is the real definition of a true team player! Here are his stats to look at before the jump. Ronnie will also turn 29 on December 12’Th. I will also give an insight as to why Dan Henning seems to be “pushing him out”.

Now, if you are a stats person, you will see that Ronnie is not a “Fumbling Machine” and you will already know that he is a very good pass catcher out of the backfield. He has only one 1000 yard season in his career, but he has been very good when he has not been hurt. Everyone knows that he personally “heats up” as the game goes on and has a nose for the endzone. We have debated this whole season as to why The Dolphins have not been using Ronnie Brown much at all this year. It was said he was hurt, but seems like our medical staff says that much about our players, so we do not really know.

Contract Year

We all know that this will probably be the last year that Ronnie plays for our beloved Dolphins. The man, Ronnie Brown, probably knows this more than anyone. Ricky Williams has stated that he loves to play with Ronnie and would not play if he were the featured back. Does anyone else see a problem here? Ricky is pretty much the featured back and this whole running back by committee is getting out of hand. Why split every other series? If one is slashing up a defense and the other is doing nothing, why not let the “hot hand” keep the chains moving? There have been games where Ronnie has not been able to find a hole and Ricky has done well, but the same goes for Ricky also. We saw in the Ravens game how Ronnie “ate them up” but then they abandon him!!??? He broke around a 50 yarder earlier in the season, but wasn’t “fed the rock” much more after that. One has to wonder what Ronnie Brown has done to the team as a person to deserve this kind of treatment in his final year. We run play action all of the time it seems, but with no running game even established or actually running the ball at all.

Why He Is a Team Player

You may wonder, why have I written all of this without even mentioning what my thread title states? Well, here goes. Ronnie Brown is always smiling, has NEVER been a “cancer to the locker room”, his teammates love him, and the coaches seem to love him. He knows everything that is going on, but do you see him causing any trouble for the team? He is always – “All Smiles”. We all know the man is probably real mad at this organization for the way he is being treated this year. Is Ronnie a fan favorite? Everyone here knows and believes this. I am a fan of his. Ronnie helps the disenfranchised children, gives to charity, signs autographs, goes to schools and talks about what happened to him, does everything that you would expect out of someone that a child or even a man or woman, could call a “Hero”. The man signed over 100,000 thousand autographs on his own time just to send to the troops that are fighting for our freedom. He was not paid for this, nor did he ask to be. I for one am quite disgusted at the way he has been treated this season. I know our o-line might not have been the best this season, but that should not hinder the chance for this man to play and prove that he is at least worthy of having a few more years in football! The man has stated on numerous occasions, “That he wants to remain and retire a Miami Dolphin” but also “that he has no say in if they want to keep him”. Going into the season, if you were to ask most any Dolphin fan if Ronnie were going to be treated this way, would you have said “Yes, I expect him to see a lot less carries”? I would have rather traded the man and let him play and earn a contract than take the ball away from him every game, rather hot or not, than to treat this man like this. This man is a “Hero”, and I do not use that term much at all, to many children and adults alike in not only Florida, but the world. I do not think for one minute that Mr. Brown said “I do not want many carries because I do not want to get injured in my contract year!”.

The way this organization has treated our “favorites” and regular plays alike

We all know how we as fans treat players, but we are fans and it is to be expected. This whole “new regime”, while not “new” anymore, has seemed to have some sort of problem with Dolphin favorites and regular players. We are going to become known as a team that treats our players like dirt and this has never been the persona of the Miami Dolphins. Joe Robbie was a real man, and all of the stuff that Steven Ross (Turning our football team into a celebrity TMZ atmosphere), Bill Parcells having “beefs” with players, and Dan Henning, have made us look like a very bad “work place”. We all know that if we done what Dan Henning does, we would be shown the door everywhere that we worked. We knew that Bill Parcells has no “loyalty” whatsoever except to “his people”, but I did not think that our owner would try to have a “celebrity showcase” at our games. Many players have said the things he has installed have been a major distraction, and as fans that post here that get to go to the home games, have said this also.

Did Bill Parcells REALLY even help us?

I have to say that he turned this team around, but with so many draft and free agent mistakes, and the way he has acted towards this season and the stuff that is in his documentary, he has gotten way more credit than he deserves! All of the credit for a Giants team he did not build, countless other credits for stuff he had no real part in, and this is exposed in his documentary. Also, If our conditioning is so intense, how come we have so many injuries the last two years? Yes, I know injuries are part of the game, but Come’On Man! Did he really help “That much”? Letting our players walk to other teams, and treating players like crap is not how you build a franchise. Sure, Jason Taylor and others, heck we “churned the roster” like 25+ times before the 3’rd game of the season, may have been old – BUT you’re telling me that JT could not have helped us this one last year? Imagine having Wake and Taylor! I know Joey Porter was a locker room cancer, so no reason to keep him? Also, People think that Misi couldn’t have learned from JT? We are becoming a very “hateful” fan base and we all know that this is not us. I want to win; I want to win very badly! Sadly, this is not how it is done and I seriously think that is why “Big Bill” The Tuna, did what he done six days before the season started. If it had worked, he was a genius, if it didn’t, which we now know, the media does not put the blame on him!

Why did we come to this? Why have we disowned our “hero” Ronnie Brown?
