Miami Herald: Jake Long to require surgery
The Miami Herald is reporting that Jake Long's injury to his shoulder will require surgery. But Long is going to try to play through the injury and have surgery in the offseason.
According to their source, when Long eventually does undergo shoulder surgery, he will need 3 to 6 weeks to heal and another 3 to 6 weeks to rehab before getting back to full strength.
So Long is likely going to at least try to play with the injury - according to this report. But even if he does play on Thursday night, there's no guarantee he makes it through the season. Jake is essentially a play away from having to shut it down for the rest of the season.

That's a tough left tackle we have, for sure
Here’s hoping we confuse the Bears and report that it’s the “other” shoulder that’s hurt. Gotta believe they are gonna bull rush him quite a bit on Thursday, if he plays.
Nobody hurt a tackler like Zonk did.

That sucks.
but he may as well try to play through it for now. if he got surgery today, he would be out until at the earliest, the last game of the year.
Dolphins and Gators baby!
If Jake Long shuts it down we might as well do the same for the season.
Thank god he’s a tough sonofabitch. Everything you’d want out of a number 1 pick.
Yea. I'm happy to have him try to play...
Him at 60% is better than most LT’s. I just don’t know how he is going to get through the season. The kid play balls to the wall..I C a lot of wildcat and spread offense on Thursday night. Chicago plays Tampa 2/Cover two. Force them to get out of the safety shell. Plus tampa 2 takes away the deep ball. Good thing we don’t throw it deep. I think we nickel and dime these pricks on Sunday for a Huge Victory. And a nice 10 days of rest.
Which shoulder is it?
I’ve never played LT, but I assume he needs his left shoulder more than his right.
Dolphins and Gators baby!
I am officially wearing my Long jersey for the rest of the season
What a monster this guy is!

The Jets make up 12.5% of our schedule, there is no reason for them to take up more than 12.5% of our discussion.

I love this guys toughness.
I just hope he doesn’t damage it further by trying to play through it. Shoulder injuries are a SOB because it leaves you with no strength in the injured arm. Of course I’ll take JL over Lydon Murtha even with 1 arm tied behind his back.

as long as he keeps his elbows low...
and doesn’t raise them above his shoulder he’ll be fine…. The higher he raises them the more pain and likelyhood it’ll pop again.

ugh I hate This!!!
I don’t know anything about shoulder injuries. I don’t know if a person would become injury prone after a surgery. But i’ll assume so because of CP10 and Justin Smiley. So to play him and risk the leagues best LT to further injury sounds crazy to me. Yea he’s a beast. But Thig can run away. If it was me calling the shots I would at least see how the backups perform first.
Can't remember the last time Miami had so much talent.
Rusty Smith! (Titans future qb)
Camarillo trade made 0 sense. A starting clutch WR for a 29 year old back-up CB? Someone found Rickey's old stash.
Me too. I wouldn't put him out there unless I had to, and even then I don't think I would.
Some things are just more important than THIS season.
Dan Marino (13) and Steve Nash (13) will go down in history as being the greatest passers to never win the last game of the season.
If we look dreadful Thurs. and lose I am willing to bet we end Long's year
We are already in a hole when we look at the playoff race
I probably know Judo! How many of you can make the same boast?
That's great and all
But what happens if Sparano lets him play and he injures it worse, and it ruins his career?
Dan Marino (13) and Steve Nash (13) will go down in history as being the greatest passers to never win the last game of the season.
My thoughts exactly
I really hope they aren’t risking more damage by keeping him around. It’s not worth the risk.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
Sure it it
WE’RE GOING TO THE SUPA BOWL!!! With Tyler Thigpen leading the way

Staring down Mark Sanchez. Just look into the those brown beauties.
but sparano
is always vague on injuries till the last minute, keeps the opposing team unprepared for who to face. like it was stated before, thiggy is mobile, lets just hope his radar is working. go phins and beat da’ bears
For all the times fans complain about guys getting paid millions to play a game
sometimes they go out there and do a lot more for their job than most people would ever do. That is a lot of pain to take to not let your teammates, coaches, and fans down. Jake Long, you are a real pro. May this just be a minor bump in a fantastic and lengthy NFL career.
That's it! Einhorn is Finkle! Finkle is Einhorn!
Amen. I think he'll be just fine with pass protection.
Once again. I think we see a lot of wild cat. A lot of play action boots. Anthony is going to have another big game.
