My view may be more optimistic than many, and there have been many debates already over players, coaches, and the general state of the Dolphins, but I can only see that the debating will continue and heat up as the season continues.
One of the weaknesses in the team, and a very important one it is, is the quarterback position. At the start of the season it seemed quite strong in talent and depth. I am a fan of Henne and he has been improving in several areas but he hasn't been playing like a top quarterback. Pennington has been a very good but somewhat limited quarterback, and now seems to be out of the picture and Thigpen, in my opinion, is ok, but not great.
Certainly, we are much stronger at many other positions.
However, we are 5-4 having been put through a tough schedule, we have games coming up that I believe we will win, and the playoffs are a possibility still, and not that unrealistic.
Before the Titans game, I didn't feel that the change in QB would have that great an impact, and after all the drama and Thigpen coming in, I still feel the same.
We won't be carried on a QB's shoulders this season in my opinion.
So, if we make the playoffs, or if we don't, with Thigpen, or if Henne returns and we miss, or he doesn't progress, more questions than answers materialize.
Whatever happens, I'm still excited. I'm happy if we make the playoffs on the backs of Long, Wake, Marshall, Bess, Brown, Williams etc.
Let's try and enjoy the ride.
