Should Dolphins try to trade for Steve Slaton?

Long time reader first time post. I see that Steve Slaton is riding the bench in Houston and is a prime candidate for a trade. I think he would be a great fit in Miami as that speedy back that can catch as well. Yeah he has had fumble problems but, he rushed for 1,200 yds his rookie year. Surely we could get him cheap and teach him to hang onto the ball. I know this has about .03% chance of happening but, I think it would be awesome.

Yeah, that stupid front office

You know, the one that does stupid things like trade for Brandon Marshall. Signs Karlos Dansby. Drafts Vontae Davis, Jake Long, Chad Henne. Admits the mistake and trades away Ted Ginn, admits the mistake and cuts Pat White.

Stupid, stupid front office.

Once you loose a couple all some people can see is the negative.

He would be a good KR

And we would get him for very cheap

Clifton Smith

He was an all pro return man and he couldn’t do anything here. It would easier to bring him back than trade for one. Maybe the new coach can straighten out our return game.

our ST blocking sucks.

We had two all pro returners here and neither of them could do their job effectively.

Wow I didn’t realize it was such a problem.

If our coaching staff hasn't fixed the fumble problems with the backs on the roster

I don’t see it being very prudent bringing in a guy with a history of putting the ball on the ground.

not trying to be misleading with the title

I think he could play on special teams, we couldn’t get any worse. We have a whole slew of guys who can’t tackle. Its a nice thought anyway

he also

has the potential to be a starting back and work in the receving game
just work on his fumbling problems

He did look good but it's the system IMO

remember every rb Denver used to get looked good but I think it was the result of the zone blocking scheme and Kubiak brought that with him to Houston.

just a rumor..

but we dont need a running back or too lose anymore picks, why are you guys not happy with what miami has done, they brought in marshall..thats all we need

Always like Slaton as a Rb, but would not trade for him. Pick him up it cut yeah in the off season wouldn’t drop lex for him though.

nah.

Slaton is close to hitting “the wall”

it’d be a waste.

I wouldn't waste a draft pick on him

There are plenty of good RB’s in next years draft. Maybe Ricky will come back. He said he might want to play another year or two. Does anybody know what RB’s will be free agents next year assuming we have a next year?

Miami Dolphin fan since 1971. Ricky Williams for starting RB! The #19 is NOT cursed. Trust the TRIUMVERATE!! Chad Henne will be the next Miami Dolphins QB to win a Super Bowl. Looking good Mr Sparano.

Bring in Steve Slaton...

Bring back Pat White, hire West Virginia’s offensive coordinator, and implement the spread option!

Who’s coming with me man!

This would totally solve our issues with an aging backfield, clunky robot of a quarterback, and dinosaur of a OC! It’s fool proof I tell ya! Fool proof!

Ummm.... No

I’d rather see a trade for a good DB, D-lineman, or O-lineman. That’s where the real trouble lies. In that order also…
