Like RuthlessRaper has ever told the truth about anything let alone this.

“I had the ball and only let go because someone was tugging my arm.” Ben, you are so full of shit you got horseflies for braces.

NY Jets = NFL's Chicago Cubs

There's a fine line between hopeful and desperate. Just look @ Jets fans.

Football 101,

you never let go at the bottom of the pile. Even without the picture, his statement is clearly bullshit.

Well, the Steeler diving in top right did get involved, but

The problem isn’t that – it’s that once touchdown was signaled the refs didn’t check who had the ball just in case. If they had, they’d have found that we had it and that would have been that.

As it was I don’t think the video evidence WAS conclusive, so we got screwed over by replay rules then – the ref had to be sure on the replay to be able to give us the ball. I knew we weren’t getting it back.

But make no mistake – the problem was the refs not doing their jobs once TD was signalled – although to be fair to them you can see why they would think they didn’t have to – I’ve never seen this before.

Just really unlucky all around.

Big Ben definitely had his hands on the ball just like he said. Oh and pigs fly!

smh… bull crap loss. But tomorrow morning we have to have this put behind us. Bengals next week!

wow i feel this is gonna stay in our memories for years to come

i spose if the steelers are the benchmark of the nfl then we do indeed have a very good chance for a postseason appearance

Big Dunmb@ss doesn't get it.

No Ben, the refs confirmed you fumbled it there genius. Steratore couldn’t help but acknowledge that fact. Its what happened afterward. Maybe you 2 need to get you lie straight before taking it public eh?

Classic BS
“I have to have clear video evidence of the team recovering the fumble,” Steratore said after the game. “It is a pile of bodies in there, and you don’t have a clear recovery.”

You don’t know who came up with it? How bout ask a ref who gave them the ball after the skirmish, simpleton.

If you look at it

there were 2 refs over there trying to find out who had the ball. They KNEW we recovered, didn’t have to have any video to tell them.

How are we .500 and our season already in such bad shape?

Pats + Jets: 5-1, Fins: 3-3… Yet our two division losses leaves us down 2.5 games already, and with the AFC North + South fielding some solid teams, a wildcard spot will be very difficult, would also mean AFC East would have 3 playoff teams, which… I dunno, seems unlikely. This blows.

Best player we signed this offseason: Zach Thomas!!! :)

by #54Thomas on Oct 25, 2010 4:45 AM EDT reply actions

Don't lose heart

There are 10 games left and we play the Jets and Pats again. Even if there are three East teams in the playoffs, all we have to do is beat out the Ravens. I don’t think anyone else is really going to be that good. We could still be 13-3 or 12-4. Remember, in ‘08 we went 9-1 in our last 10 games and we’re a better team now than we were then, even if it’s doubtful we have as much luck as we did in ’08.

by BravePhin on Oct 25, 2010 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions

The thing that bothers me the most...

… is that the league says Steratore’s explanation is sufficient. That’s ignoring the bigger picture. His explanation of the review might be correct, but it doesn’t resolve the issue of officials rushing calls on the field rather than letting plays play out fully and then using replay as a fall back. You blow your whistle too early and give up on a play like this and you eliminate an awful lot of replay’s effectiveness.

Well if you're a heatfan

The refs will be our best friends. Wade and Lebron get all the calls I will admit

Wanna prove you are a true heatfan? Remind people you lived through the Mark Blount era

Does this not remind anybody of the Dolphins-Saints fiasco of last year?

At least this time they reversed the TD call, but my God wtf are these refs watching and why are they always so excited to call TD?

OMG that play makes me so mad!

we could have gone to the playoffs last season if they would have made the right call on that play

and if ted ginn doesnt drop that game winning pass vs the colts….

ok, im not happy with the game, nor am i happy by the call

however, it was the correct call by the replay team. yes, in all likelihood we recovered the fumble, but as i watched the play, i was not 100% sure we recovered it, and the ref needs to be 100% positive to overturn it, so what he did was right.

However, the ref who originally called it a touchdown is a complete moron and cost us the game.

The Call

fumbles in the first.

we then lost the game a final time with horrible clock management. why call a time out on the steelers field goal attempt. why run the ball on first down of our final drive. why rush 2nd down with the 2 minute warning impending. come on sparano you’re better than that
