Just Some Thoughts
It’s been about 9 days since I left the stadium with about 12 minutes left in the game because of how bad it felt watching my favorite team get embarrassed. I was embarrassed to be a fan at the moment so I could only imagine how the team felt walking off the field. I have this thing where after a win I listen to the radio to hear the thoughts on the game and can’t wait to see highlights and watch the game over, but that loss going into the bye week just made me wonder if we will be able to turn it around with this tough schedule.
Slowly but surely I began to read some articles about how bad we played and how Sparano’s job may not be safe and the fired special teams coach being defended by the Jet’s coach and it just made everything worse. I had printed out a custom schedule with a predictions column and I had the Phins going 12-4 for the season. We are at 2-2 now and even though a lot of people have determined the Phins are done I beg to differ.
After the first quarter of the season we have Super Bowl favorites that find them selves in the same position as we are and worse. I don’t hear anyone counting the Colts, Vikings, Saints, Cowboys, and Chargers as being done. Yea, the Dolphins have a tough 4 game stretch coming up but that doesn’t count as automatic losses and we have yet to see our team play its best football this season. We are coming off the bye and we are almost back to full health as a team. We have had 2 weeks to go over 4 weeks of tape to see what’s wrong and 2 weeks to practice and get better at it.
I’m not going to make any predictions but every game left on our schedule is a winnable game. Every team in the league has lost a game, no one’s unbeatable. We know that our defense is solid without Crowder, so with him back along with our first round pick Odrick, we are a better Defense. Our running game has been average at best but I believe that with Jerry back our run blocking will be better. Our team is young and we have to take the growing pains of the first quarter of the season as lessons learned, I believe our team understands that. Point is we will get better as the season goes along.
I’m going to concluded this by saying that Sparano is doing a pretty good job. He started 0-2 the first season, 0-3 the second and this season we are 2-2 after starting off 2-0. This is his best start and I’m hoping we top it off with his best finish (Super Bowl would be nice). We can’t go down the schedule and count victories, the Saints lost to the Cardinals, the Chargers lost to Oakland and KC, and the Colts lost to Jacksonville. It’s going to be a long season and a very intriguing playoff race and regardless of how many tough opponents that are left on the schedule, we will be in the race.
Please don’t get on me about the “We”, I feel like I’m a part of the team.

Still a lot of season left.
WE all need to remember that anything can happen and a win this week would go a long way to getting on the right track. No reason to get down until we are officially eliminated from playoff contention. Seems the NFL is loaded with 8-8 team. If we can somehow get to 10 wins we should be in. I remember that many thought 3 playoff teams would come out of the AFC East and that is still a very good possibility. Go Dolphins!!
Miami Dolphin fan since 1971. Ricky Williams for starting RB! The #19 is NOT cursed. Trust the TRIUMVERATE!! Chad Henne will be the next Miami Dolphins QB to win a Super Bowl. Looking good Mr Sparano.
Yo Pimp, WE are a big part of the team
I, too feel that we got a big run of wins waiting to be unleashed. I thought and pondered after our 2nd loss and said to myself I will treat this bye week as if we just played 8 preseason games, so come Sunday, our season begins and every nook and cranny should be caulked by now. Lets Roll, big pimping.
Damn the sheriff, Bring on MARSHALL LAW
Great post dude.
Whenever I talk about the Dolphins to other people I always say “we” instead of “them” so I know where you’re comin’ from. Anyways I love the optimism. I truly believe this can be a very good team. Once Channing and Odrick get back I have a feeling the run defense will look much better.
What concerns me the most is Chad Henne. I’ve always liked Henne but he has a lot of things he needs to fix if we want to score efficiently enough to be a contender. He really just needs to read the field better instead of locking onto one receiver. If he does that, he can easily cutdown on the interceptions. The other thing I’d like to see him get better at is pocket awareness. It’s like he has no idea what to do when pressure gets to him. As long as Henne can get better at reading the field, and hitting the open man, I could see us making a playoff run.
I agree about Henne
I think that Henne will get better at stepping up and buying himself more time. It sure would’ve made the ending of the Jets game more interesting. We can’t go wrong with Henne though, he’s smart and a hard worker, we just need to get our running game going to open things up for him.
