Koa Misi ranked #2 for Rookie of the Year!??

http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2010/10/08/the-race-for-the-rookie-of-the-year-play-it-again-sam/

On October 8th, according to Pro Football Focus's values and evaluations of rookies in the NFL this season, Koa Misi is currently ranked #2 overall, up from #5 for Rookie of the Year status. He was ranked 5th in the previous article on 10/1, 3rd on the 9/25 article, and 4th in the article released on 9/18. Omar Kelly, eat your heart out.

Rookie of the Year on 10/8:

2. Koa Misi, OLB, Miami (143 snaps, +4.9)

We’d like to see him on the field a bit more, but another sack and two quarterback pressures show Misi making an immediate impact.Last week: 5th

Rookie of the Year on 10/1:

5. Miami OLB Koa Misi (118 snaps, +3.7 rating)
It was a slightly underwhelming performance from Misi, who really struggled against D’Brickashaw Ferguson. To no surprise, he’s struggled against the better left tackles (he’s been primarily lined up on the right side). Last week: 3rd.

Rookie of the Year on 9/25:

3. Miami OLB Koa Misi (81 snaps, +4.3)
That’s nine total pressures on the year for Misi at the moment but it was his run defense that was the standout thing about him in Week 2. Not an easy thing when playing Adrian Peterson. Last week: 4th.

Rookie of the Year on 9/18:

4. Miami OLB Koa Misi (38 snaps, +2.6 rating)
He didn’t see full-time action but of all pass-rushers ,Misi was the most productive per play by producing a 1-sack, 2-hit, 4-pressure day. Not bad at all when you only rush the passer 20 times.

Misi received a +1.2 rating for his week 4 play against New England:

In a reduced role (25 snaps), Koa Misi (+1.2) picked up a sack and two quarterback pressures.

He was highly regarded for both his run defense and rush during week 2 against Minnesota:

Koa Misi rotated with Quentin Moses and had a solid day. Two hits on Favre and a big fumble recovery will get more attention than his impressive run defense (unfortunately).

Mike Williams from Tampa has been doing some of those

I’m not buying that Top 10.

I got it wrong Tebow was a 1st rounder... Mau you won on this one... Damn!

Ok I can agree he is the best rookie OLB so far.

But #2 rookie of all positions just behind Sam Bradford?

plus rookie olb's

are suppose to suck, especially ones converted from DE…Misi=future beast and one of the best rookies from this draft. His overall rank is arguable. Nate Allen is another rookie on a tear. But Misi is up there with the best.

Can't remember the last time Miami had so much talent.

The reverse order comments scare me.

Is he getting worse?!

I’m on the side of true love…and a good running game.

Defense wise he's behind these guys

Ndamukong Suh
Nate Allen
Earl Thomas

Let me stop Misi has 9 tackles as a LB, I wont entertain this thought anymore.

Best of luck to climbing the board but as of now GTFOH.

he is playing well

quarterback pressures may help win games, but they don’t help win rookie of the year. I wouldn’t count on it, but closer than people think.

Big plays, TDs and other big stats win Awards, That is why QB win MVP,

DBs win DROY and either WR or QB win OROY

If not for Koa "The Boa" Misi

the Phins would be 1-3. If that doesn’t matter than bad mouth him all you like. For me that’s a BFD. #55!!

Miami Dolphin fan since 1971. Ricky Williams for starting RB! The #19 is NOT cursed. Trust the TRIUMVERATE!! Chad Henne will be the next Miami Dolphins QB to win a Super Bowl. Looking good Mr Sparano.

You got to give Misi his respect, he's playing good and he could win DROY

Remember the guy from the Houston Texans last year, ummmm whats his name “Brian Cushing”. Misi can win it over all, he’s playing great even without taking drug enhancements

Enough with the Koa hype

he has done nothing! He’s on pace for 36 tackles as a LBer. He’s getting way to much credit for falling on a football which takes no talent or skill.

I hope he becomes a beast but his work to date doesnt warrant the praise.

you should look up the average of what rookie olb’s do. 2.59 sacks. 0.7 forced fumbles. 25.9 tackles. hmmmmmm.

And is that including 43 OLBs, that get more chances to capitalize on tackles?

I wanted Earl Thomas at our slot.

I dont mind the Misi pick at all, I hope he’s as good as yall making him out.

Last year at this time I was praising Vontae while most of you were raving about SS. Maybe I dont see what you guys do, but C’mon what has he done……9 tackles!!! and he’s a;ready being compared to Cushing.

why are people on here hating on our own player.

Koa has played well. end of story. some people are looking at his overall statistics. but are forgetting he has gotten limited snaps. its his efficiency when hes getting snaps thats getting recognition.

by phinfan20 on Oct 13, 2010 5:34 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

If he is getting limited snaps and splitting time that should tell you something

I think he’s doing OK, but exactly inline for DROY, if he’s the best rookie OLB that should tell you about the draft class look what Mathews and Cushing did last year. There was a reason pass rushers where falling in the draft.

you’re pointing two abnormalities that juiced. not good examples. I was just pointing what the average rookie olb does and that Misi is exceeding it. He’s doing great (for a rookie OLB) DROY? not right now but if his game improves then maybe.

Agreed

Misi is doing pretty good, but he can still do better. So far I think the most impressive defensive rookie has been Nate Allen with the Eagles.

by Finhead83 on Oct 15, 2010 3:49 AM EDT up reply actions

yea there are a few rookies that are ballin right now

Suh, Earl Thomas, and like you mentioned Nate Allen so I wouldnt put Misi up to that level yet.

This has always been the problem with PFF,

these bizarre rankings, last year they had Bess as the 10th best WR in the league, CJ was the 4th ranked RB, LOL, and AP was ranked like 14th ?!?!?!?!?, with I think it was Brian Leonard in front of him………..coo coo,…. coo, coo.

Misi has been mainly invisible, but he is a conversion player, this was a possibility, no one should lose hope.

PS, just one of the reasons why we shouldn’t have let Anderson go, especially for Carpenter.

If we jusst kept Matt Roth, we wouldnt have needed to spend a draft pick on Misi

and Anderson was a special teams guy too
