WR Ryan Grice-Mullen signed a 2 year contract with Miami reuniting 2 of the most productive WRs in Hawaii history. As a freshman in 2005 RGM had 85 receptions for 1,228 receiving yards and 12 TDs. In 2006, RGM was injured for 4 games however he still managed to rack up 46 reception for 770 yards and 11 TDs. However it was RGM's junior year in 2007 when he really blossomed, catching 106 passes for 1372 yards and 13 TDs. He actually had more receiving yards (1,372/1,266) and TDs (13/12) than Davone Bess in 2007. RGM earned first team All-WAC honors and was part of the WAC's Special Award for Offensive Unit of the Year in 2007 before leaving college for a shot at the NFL. Both Bess and Grice-Mullen went undrafted and while Bess blossomed in Miami, RGM got injured in training camp and was cut by the Houston Texans. He spent the latter part of the 2008 season and the entire 2009 season in the CFL with the BC Lions where he caught 29 passes for 385 yards and 2 TDs. Though he made a small impact as a receiver, his presence was felt on special teams as set the CFL record for longest playoff punt return when he returned a punt for 106 yards for a TD. With Davone Bess, the dynamic receiving duo accumulated a whopping 530 receptions, 6,980 receiving yards, and 77 TDs in their careers at UH. Hopefully Miami can benefit from some of that production in 2010.
