Listen, I'll be the first to say defense wins championships and our main problem on this team is our Defense for sure. Our offense put up the points needed to win games but the Defense didn't do it's job.
If we draft Rolando Mcclain with the 12th pick i'd be more than happy with that, but this is where I start to wonder. You look at teams like Baltimore and Pitt and the Giants (last year) and you see what happens if your great defense doesn't step up for a game or two...you need that offense to be able to pick up the slack. We can all agree our defense isn't as good as these squads when healthy and the Giants from last year but I feel like if we have a chance to get a franchise WR that will be with the team for the next 8 years or so to pair along with Henne, that its almost too tough to turn down.
You see how many throws these top QB's sling out that aren't right on the spot and the WR bails them out by making a great 1 handed grab or using his speed to take a 5 yard pass into a 15 yard gain. Show me Brady's stats without Welker or Randy Moss who makes one handed catches that Ginn can't make with 3 hands.
I just feel at the end of the day, if we have a chance to get Brandon Marshall for say a first or two 2nd's...and yes, his price tag will drop substantially after his most recent actions, then how do we say no?....I truly feel Sparano and Parcells can control a guy like that including vets like Jason Taylor who has respect from everyone in this league. You see what taking Randy Moss did to the Pats and everyone questioned his character and if issues. People do change and people do mature. This kid is in his mid 20's and is one of the top 4 WR's in the NFL.
I say if the price isn't too steep you get Brandon Marshall and never have to answer a question about getting a "true" no. 1 WR for a long time. Broncos are looking to deal him and this would still allow us to focus all our top picks and free agency on depth and defense. Gibril Wilson is making 8 mil this year...if we gave that money to Marshall instead of him we'd be just fine! Maybe Clemons is the answer, maybe not, but I rather have Clemons or Culver and Brandon then Gibril any day.
The trifecta need to really play this one close to the chest....
