Draft Picks = 12th, 43rd, 74th Overall
Nine (9) teams finished with worse record than Dolphins (7-9)
Three teams are tied with a 7-9 record (Mia, Chi, Jax)
The tiebreaker for the draft standings is strength of schedule. I'm pretty sure we played the toughest schedule which means we are last of those three. That means are 1st round pick is 12th overall.
Each round, in ties, the team that picked first in the previous round, moves to back of line and other teams move up one slot. This means in round two we slide up to 11th. That pick is 43rd overall
In round three we move up to 10th, which is the 74th overall pick.

At least someone is happy???
A Champion has fallen and out of the ashes a new Warrior will rise
I'm not too happy
I woud have rather won today and done better on season, but luckily we have shaped up decently for draft.
With Houston winning today a win would have hurt us more than it would have helped

trade down
to mid-round and get McClain/Bryant
Ted Ginn supporter
I don't think McClain is sliding that far
I’d be surprised if he is there at 12. If he is we are taking him. Bryant is also a good pick. I’m not sure we trade down.
No but...
We can still pick up a really good DT like Dan Williams from Tenn. and after that nothing but LBer, because if i have to go another season watching Ayodele and freakin old ass Porter running around doing NOTHING my heads going to pop. Am i the only one that see’s our LBer chasing after people, you can’t have that that’s why we’ve been getting killed all season because these guys can’t cover for shit.
bryant is projected in 12-15 on some drafts
mcclain is around the 12 spot, even before that

I am starting to get optimistic for Berry
Safeties tend to slide in the draft even guys as talented as Berry

I’d take Berry over everyone else in this draft. I just can’t see him falling that far. When you earn the tag “the next Ed Reed” people take notice lol

we should (that means you get a pad and a pen and do some research)
take into account who is picking in front of us and what their most pressing needs are. For example, Detroit and St.Louis, even though they will be picking very early and ahead of us already have 2 playmaking Safeties on their rosters, so they are out of the picture. But he could very well fall to the 12th spot.
OMGF are you watching the Jet game? The referee is reviewing a fumble and he left the curtain a bit open and the camera caught exactly what and how he was watching it. Amazing! never seen that before in years.
I don't see him getting by TB or Washington
depending on where Suh goes. IMO, it’s going to be Clausen, Suh, Okung, Berry as the top 4.

There is no way Clausen is the #1 overall pick in my op.
But yeah I do see Berry being picked up really high.
You know what though, how much do you want to bet. I say it again for emotional effect. How much do you want to bet that come April, Tebow is being mentioned as a HIGH possibility foe the #1 overall pick? I don’t care what anybody says. The period of time that goes from Feb to April has a way of really messing with people’s heads. Remember Mark Sanchez last year before that period of time came? He was considered to be picked around the 20th pick at best, some even had him dropping to the 2nd round. Then what happened? He starts doing interviews and on set appearances with the NFL Network and whatnot and all of a sudden he has charmed the entire world and moved up the board like crazy. If Mark was able to do that, and what Im saying is accurate because at one point of the off season I wrote a post about the Top 5 most underrated players in the NFL draft and I included Mark because he was not being considered for the top 5 discussion. So if Mark was able to do that can you imagine what Tebow will do? Im betting big on this. Is how the NFL works. Hop on the bandwagon Nicky haha
I dont see it with Tebow but if it happens then I will totally give you your props!
Well you might have to remind me as I forget all kinds of shit.

Clausen will be the number 1 pick of the draft
and he’ll be signed before the draft. Mark it down. Best QB in the Class meets Team With No QB. It’s a no brainer, and it would be stupid to pass on him.
Here’s Clausen’s credentials btw
68% completions
28 TD’s to only 4 INT’s
3 years experience in complex, pro-style offense
steady, marked improvement each year
I’ll admit his 27 starts is rather low for an ideal QB pick, but everything else checks out, and his experience in Charlie Weis’ offense is a HUGE bonus, because he should have no problems picking up the NFL playbook, the reads, and recognizing defenses. If he’s not the first pick in the draft, STL screwed up.

Sorry Nicky, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one.
I don’t think there is any way the Rams pass on Suh. Yes, they have a huge need at QB, but honestly, the only positions they DON’T have a huge need at is RB (Steven Jackson) and FS (OJ Atogwe). And with Spags being a defensive minded coach, I can see them taking Suh with the 1st overall pick, and grabbing a QB in the 2nd or later.
There’s been a lot of talk going on around town here that the Rams are looking at picking up a free agent QB to kind of fill in as a placeholder for a couple of years and help Null or whoever they pick up in this draft, learn some more. Some of the names being circulated that they are looking at are Jason Cambell, Brady Quinn, and Chad Pennington. I can very much see them picking up one of these guys in FA, taking Suh in the 1st round, and then drafting a future QB in a later round.

And I'm gonna tell you that the only franchise-potential QB in this draft is Clausen
and QB is FAR AND AWAY a more important position than DT. It’s not even close. They’ve spent 2 of their last 3 first round picks on the DL. Spagnoula doesn’t have his guy, and every new coach/gm looks to find their guy at QB. It’s a fact. I am guaranteeing that Jimmy Clausen is the first pick of the draft, and he’ll be signed before draft day. They would completely retarded to pass on him, considering they need a QB more than anything else. You can’t wait on a franchise QB.

Well, if that's the way it goes down,
then I will give you props for your Carnac like abilities. But I just see them going with Suh. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see when the draft gets here.
The other stuff was just what the scuttlebutt here in the Lou has been. Mainly its just rumors and the papers going off on their own tangents, nothings been confirmed or denied by the Rams FO as of yet.

This is the draft
that makes us or breaks us, this offseason does.
With no CBA this is our chance to unload without cap hit expensive players for the second highest payroll in 2009. Wilson, Akin, Porter, Penne, and Torbor. Some of that money should be used to resign Fassano and Brown’s 5 mil he is due his last year of contract.
Dont expect anu real big FA signings for with no CBA a #1 WR would cost atleast our # and Parcells isnt trading the 12th pick of draft besides all these guys that with no CBA that are restricted would be unrestricted in 2011.
Draft expect all defense atleast in the top 3 rounds. Forget WR unless something odd happens. The FO likes the unit and the way Ginn played(with no drapped passes and better routes evebn though targeted less) will get another year at his fairly reasonable 1.5 mil contract. Next year besides unrestricted #1’a being available is also a very good year for feature WRs in the draft which you can get with a lower 1st round pick. If we are truely headed in the direction of being a contender yr in yr out then this draft position is the best we will have for many years and we better getb defensive playmakers. I expect McClain to be our pick and if gone and no OLBer Parcells feels warrents a #12 pick he will trade into the middle bottom of the first and snag a Hughes/Kindle/Spikes(unless Berry somehow falls to 12). I expect 3 lbers in first 3 rounds barring a great value FS or NT in rounds 2 or 3.
Dont be dellissional and thibnk we truely challenge next yr for a SB we have an older defense, two key members of it will be second yr corners, a 13 game starter at QB. We will wait on breaking the bank for a diva/stud WR after the defense is younger and filled with a couple plkaymakers

Clearly we have to get a #1 receiver....
It’s absolutely clear because our offense is good but we need to find that guy. It’s evident and has been all year. I wasn’t sold on it at first but seeing the position we continually put ourselves into, it seems like a necessary need. We do need to beef up our Defense big time and need offseason conditioning to get even better..

if you get a restricted FA #1 wr
it is going to cost multible picks including #12 in draft no way when 1 more year they’ll cost nothing and team in more of a position to contend assumming draft helps finish off the defensive needs. And if you wish to draft a #1 next year is the year to do it. This current draft is defensively biased fix the defense and then get that last piece, #1wr) after team is ready to truely contend

Mile Austin...
Drafted by Parcells and Ireland, and can flat out play. If you were to put that guy next to the current wideouts we have now, we would have a really good WR core for Chad to grow with and all of them would be pretty young also.
Austins agent and the Cowboys are working on a new contract and will not be leaving Dallas.

I think we move S.Smith to FS
Allen and Davis at corner. Bring in Mclain and find an OLB who can cover. We are good. Our offense is alot better than we give it credit for.

Yes but in the limited playing time I have seen him in he was NOT exploited
despite being a rookie FS that is starting. to me that is at least some good news for his sake. Although he made no big plays but he wasn’t abused like a rook usually is.
The only wisdom is the knowledge that you don't know
Smith is our best cover corner
why are we trying to move him to safety? I have yet to get a good explaination on why we would move our best cover guy to a position where he doesn’t cover anyone, and instead has to make a whole lot of tackles, something he isn’t very good at.

with draft pick costs this year
with no CBA there are additional tags of both types which all these would get and those with less then 6 full yrs are restricted anyways plus a limit on number of FAs you can sign at certain costs like the NBAQ and exception signings for 5 mil or less which none of these would take. It wont happen and I dont even think it is possible with the no CBA restrictions applied

Somebody needs to do a post on all the implications of the uncapped year
to the Phins as it relates to our players and free agents ect…. I do wonder if there will be some bargains out there if a lot of teams use the lack of a cap to cut overpriced guy thus flooding the market.

and handicap our team for years with 20+ mil
a year. What happens to our cap? If Henne is what we think how much will he be to resign? Starks? Davis? Smith? Long? ect ect. If you think you can get either Marshal or Dansby, in a uncapped year, for less then 10 mil a yr and 5 yrs plus huge bonus and quareentees your crazy. We had the 2nd highest payroll this year trying to buy a championship almost always backfires and screws you for years in a capped enviroment

I'm a little wary of Bryant
don’t really know why. Could be the issue of getting open, because he’s really not that fast or quick at all, compared to NFL athletes. I’d rather take Damian Williams if we are picking a WR because he’s quick, fast, and a terrific route-runner.

Based on what I've seen from the front office
in FA we will pick up some carreer backups on the cheap.
we will start the draft picking defense until the last few rounds when we MIGHT get a WO
NO big money will be used to pick up anyone that has any kind of big name or history
and lastly, we will AGAIN …. NOT ,,,,, get in the Superbowl
sadly..........that about sums it up doesn't it.........?

LBer's LBer's LBer's LBer's....
thats what this team needs, and if you don’t think so just look what the Steelers did to us.
Yep. LBs and a NT
Our defensive line and secondary are somewhat young (if you’re not including Ferguson), and our second level of defense has been absolutely demolished the last three weeks. Therefore, I am thinking we do a whole lot of LB shopping in this draft. I am of the mindset that we HAVE to take McClain if he falls to #12. And if he’s not, maybe consider taking Spikes in the second round or late first round (via trading down.)
All I know is our defense needs a leader, which is something both McClain and Spikes are for their respective teams.
Once we take care of our ILB problem, I’d like to address the OLB position with Hughes, Kindle, Sapp or Graham.
I like Dan Williams at NT, but I’ve come to the realization that our LB situation has turned into something ridiculously bad — to the point thatI am fine with re-signing Fergie for one more year so we can put off the NT position until 2011.
2010 is the year of the linebacker! lol
Still hoping for Rolando McClain in 2010!
