I´ve seen everywere in the site (fan posts and comments) dolfans are dreaming on Vince Wilfork comming to Miami. Actually I have nothing against it of course it would be great having a monster like Wilfork as the anchor of the D. Anyway my intention in this post is to state that we could be real good at NT even not bringing a superstar.
I completely agree Paul Soliai and Tony McDaniels are not an answer at NT but at the same time they were excellent backup players for Jason Ferguson. While Ferg was healthy our D was better because Soliai is good enough to handle the job some snaps and keep both players fresh. So my thinking is the least we need is to acquire a NT just as good as Ferg is at his 35 years and use a rotation with Soliai.
Of course, getting someone as good as Ferg is easier say than done he played great during the season, but Free Agents like: Ryan Pickett (30) GB or Aubrayo Franklin (30) SF. Could be a really nice asset for 2 or 3 years until landing a young stout NT. In the other hand Terrance Cody or Dan Williams could be available for Dolphins on draft day but if not in the 2nd round i prefer to avoid both.
In my humble oppinion landing Pickett or Franklin could be the best using Soliai as a backup. This not as expensive as bringing Wilfork and the results will be as good as having Ferg or better, also those guys are proven playing NT in a 3-4 Defense.
From my point of view this way the draft could be more focussed on bringing ILB, WR and OLB which are the other holes I will be writing later and the price is not that high. Of course you may disagree with me and fireback saying Wilfork is the best thing that could happen to Miami doesn't matter the cost. I will be glad to see your opinions.
