I keep hearing about Joey Porter and how we should not bring him back etc. He's had an injury issue this year and it is evident that he's slowed down a bit (most likely due to a nagging injury). It was great to see him have a Pro Bowl Year last year, but I like the fact that this year the Dolphins are ranked 5th in Sacks!
It just seems silly to get rid of a big name player that went to the Pro Bowl last year. I think he can return to form and he can mentor the young DE on the team. I just don't like hearing about how bad Porter has been when the team as a whole has been doing much better getting pressure and sacks than the previous year.
Last year we had 40 total sacks, with Joey Porter getting 17.5 sacks. This year we have 41 with one game left to go and Porter has 8 sacks while JT has 7. I like that our "team" is playing overall better and beating last years with younger players making those contributions. Sure it'd be great to have 50+ sacks but with all of the injuries we've and the fact that we have 2 starting rookie corners and Gibril Wilson dropping easily catch-able balls.
I look forward to the younger players making bigger plays in the future, including Cameron Wake who will only get better and is still young to boot!
