Dolphins in 2010
Hey fellow Dolphins, i'm new to the phinsider community and I want to first start off saying I absoulutely love this site. Great job Matty and everyone, great posts. Anyways, I wanna talk about the state of the dolphins in 2010 because in reality our 2009 season is over ( at least we have a chance). But before I talk about what I want to happen in 2010. Let me say a few words about our 2009 team. I want to say i think the Dolphins were fantastic this season considering having the toughest schedule in the NFL and the multiple injuries that sidelined some of our best players. Now onto the dolphins in 2010.
First, i want to talk about the 2010 NFL Draft, now first I am a little cloudy on what draft picks we have, I thought we had two first round picks but apparently not bacause in every mock draft I viewed, it said we only have one. So can someone help me out with that? Anyways, I do know for sure we have one first round pick, and i'd really like to use it on DT Terence Cody. This guy is huge, and Jason Ferguson is not getting younger, and being that big of a man, one can only believe he doesn't have much left. Now onto our second round pick, I was reading the post about Brandon Spikes and I instantly wanted this man on our football team next year, now I don't know if he'll be available when our second pick comes around but if he is, i would love having this guy on our football team. Now he would probably be replacing or backing up Akin Adoydele, and I really view Akin as a better backup then starter. With that being said I would love if the front office drafted Spikes. Now many of you may be thinking, no wide reciever with one of the first two picks, and I really believe we should try aquire a Star studded free agent wide reciever such as Brandon Marshall or
Vincent Jackson. Now some may be wondering why Jackson is stracthed out, it is because i really don't see him as a # 1 wide reciever, and I am also cloudy on Brandon Marshall. I'll talk about that in a minute. All this doesn't mean I don't think we should draft a wide receiver. I think we should use our third pick to draft a wide reciever.
Now onto free agency, our needs are quite obvious, first things first, we need a # 1 wide reciever, now I mentioned Brandon Marshall, but is he too expensive, I am not sure if he or any wide reciever is worth the money he'll probably be asking for. Is Ted Ginn the solution, I think he had his chance and is definitely not the solution, although I think he'll make a great # 2 or slot reciever. So I believe we should trade for a wide reciever along the likes of Miles Austin or Anquan Boldin. Now i already adressed how i think the front office should deal with the inside linebacker and nose tackle problems. the final problem i think we need to adress is tight end, with Anthony Fasano being a free agent, I think this is a problem because if you look at our recievers, there not a very big group ( Ex. Bess, Ginn, Cammarillio), I am not taking anything from their abilty to run, but every QB needs a big massive target. So, do we have that target already in Joey Haynos (6'8 270), i dont know but I think the Front office should really think about who starts at that position next year ( Fasano, Haynos, or a free agent).
Now we have some free agents of our own including Chad Pennington, Ronnie Brown, Davone Bess, Anthony Fasano, and others. Let me start out with Chad Pennington. I think we should let him walk. As muck as I love CP10, i think the future is now with Chad Henne, so let Chad P. walk. Now if we wants the backup job, let him have, no questions. Now for a more difficult decision, Ronnie Brown. Now I believe we need to do anything possible to retain Ronnie Brown, this guy is a good running back, now I know he does intend getting injured alot and we have a reliable second option in Ricky Williams, but I believe we need to find a way to keep Ronnie Brown. Now onto Davone Bess, he has a player option that I believe he'll take so I don't think we have to worry about him going anywhere. Next is Anthony Fasano, I already mentioned what i think should happen with him, now what kind of fan would I be without mentioning Jason Taylor, now with him I think its obvious, the balls in his court, if he wants to come back, I'll gladly take him, but if he wants to leave, let him.
One more thing I would like to address is Joey Porter, now I know everyone here isn't a big fan of Joey Porter, but I am, I think he brings toughness to the team mentally and physically. I know he didn't have the best year but remember he does have eight sacks when he missed three games, and he was dealing with a hamstring problem the whole year, and their is still another game. I don't know if he is going to be cut, traded, or retire, but me myself would love to see Joey Porter on the dolphins next season.
GO DOLPHINS !!!
