Dolphins vs Steelers: Prediction Time

I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable New Year's holiday. Let's get to the "expert" picks for Sunday's game:

Chris Mortensen - Mia Adam Schefter - Pit Ron Jaworksi - Mia
Cris Carter - Pit Tom Jackson - Pit Peter King - Pit
PFT - Mia Sporting News - Pit Jason Cole - Pit
Harmon Forecast - Mia Pete Prisco - Pit Clark Judge - Mia

I thought we'd see far fewer picks in favor of the Dolphins. But it seems like, of nothing else, the media at least respects this Dolphins team. That's nice for a change.

The way I see it, this game is going to be a shoot-out. I don't think either team will run the ball effectively well, meaning Chad Henne will have to out-gun Ben Roethlisberger. Will he do it? It sure won't be easy.

In the end, I see a tight, high-scoring game. 31-28 Dolphins.

Star-divide

Week 17 Locks
Jaguars +1.5 over Browns
- With Jacksonville clinging to slim playoff hopes, the Jaguars get the job done behind MJD.
Titans -4.5 over Seahawks - Seattle has packed up already for the offseason and I expect to see a big game out of Chris Johnson, as he breaks 2,000 yards rushing.
Ravens -10.5 over Raiders - Baltimore is playing for their playoff lives and the Raiders, while playing better of late, just won't be able to slow Ray Rice and the Ravens.

Last Week: 3-1
Season: 26-26-1

Even though your record is less than ideal haha, I love this weekend picks. Im going to put 50 bucks on a Trilay just as you suggested. If I win I’ll send you the money I put on it ($50) so you can make a donation to your charity of your preference in the name of The Phinsider. What do you say haha?

You should have went bold Matty!!

Your locks should have been all the games that we need to go in our favor.

WAIT, isn't that what we need to get into the playoffs??

I’d have to say, crazier things have happened this season and it would be pretty hilarious if that happened. It would be the perfect end to such a tumultuous season.

There's no way Tim Tebow translates into an NFL QB...

Everytime I watch him play, I wonder what will happen to him because he’s a great leader and has great morals etc. When I see him run, I think, that’s definitely not very fast and not NFL speed. When he throws the ball, I think, that ball is pretty loose and lucky to be completed because it wasn’t pretty. I just have to wonder where he would fit as he’d take several years to develop. We have enough development going on and Henne has the opportunity of a lifetime.

as much as i hate to say it

i dont see it in the dolphins to win this game

the steelers have more to lose, and our banged-up o-line will be facing the nfl’s best pass-rushing team

This game has a chance to be the epitome of our season....

We have been fighting for .500 this whole season and to end at .500 after fighting back and going out with a BANG, sounds like the Dolphins we’ve come to know this season. I’m praying for more consistency next season but it’d be great to see our team fight tooth and nail to show that they have what it takes to play with the big dogs.

You do remember the Steelers got beaten down by the Raiders right? Same with the Bengals??

I never thought I'd sy it but

With the amount of teams laying down this week I’d rather we lose. Its the difference in pick 11 – 22. When teams have already decided to rest their starters its damn near impossible.

I hope it an offensive guage to where we need to look next year because we already know the defense need some major overhaul. A 35-31 shootout loss would be satisfying.

matty i know u covered it in you 3 key matchups

But Vernon Carey v Lamarr Woodley is what I’m watching for on Sunday. Everybody talks about Harrison and that’s all well and good but u wanna talk about a perfect SOLB? Is it possible for a guy to quietly have 13-15 sacks in a season And if it comes down to a shootout between Henne and Big Ben, as much as I hate to say it but ill take the guy with two Super Bowls and better receiving corps. Dolphins 24 Steelers 30.

r u stupid?

did you forget Chad Henne outgunned a man with 2 Superbowl rings, a perfect season, and an awesome wife. That’s right he outgunned Tom Brady and im certain he could do it here all you who think we are going to get outgunned are crazy. we shouldn’t even worry about that ya should worry if our defense could pummel Ben Roethlisberger. i have the Dolphins winning 34-31 this could go to overtime so for those of you with Heart Problems i must warn you.

Mm I bet it'd be safe to say the stupid one is you.

This because you believe Chad Henne, a first year Qb with a suspect O-line, no running attack and mediocre receivers can easily “outgun” a man with 2 Super Bowl rings and 2 Super Bowl MVP winning WR, both with 1,000 plus yards on the season. Im not even going to keep going…

by MauMontaV5 on Jan 2, 2010 6:13 PM EST up reply actions

um who is better Tom Brady wih Moss clearly the best reciever in the game, Welker one of the ebst possession recievers in the game

with an outstanding oline, or Ben Roelthisberger with a suspect Oline, 1 great Receiver (Santionio Holmes) and an injured reciever (Hines Ward). My point taken, Chad Henne can Throw with anyone in the league he just needs to stop making stupid decisions in the 4th quarter

Well it's six in the morning,

got the Marino jersey on, my foam hat, and my heart pills (lol).

I think we can win this game, but it will be tough. Thank god we’re not playing up here, where I’m at, there’s 2 feet of snow.

I predict the phins to win 59 – 0. lol

Im gonna be a little bold, and say the Browns take out the Jags, and- the Browns will get a wildcard NEXT season.

LATE CHRISTMAS???

First time poster, lielong dolphin fan

It’s possible, even likely, that Brandon Marshall has played his final game as a Bronco. If Denver gets back a 1 and 3 for him, he’s gone. …

Via Adam Schefter…please make it happen Miami that would be HUGE for Henne and our offense
