Anyone else see how Matt Roth is playing for the Browns?

I mean, he is doing great for the Browns, why did we get rid of him so easily? Must have been alot of behind the scenes stuff that we dont know about. He had a good year last year, then the mysterious injury this year & got cut & instant impact on the Browns team. The way he's playing we could have got a mid-late pick for him, we could have used him! Our trash is ALMOST ALWAYS another teams impact player. I dont understand it. Anyone know any "inside info" on what really happened?

Exactly, how very strange that all off a sudden he is playing for the Browns

as if there was no injury issues at all. Oh wait, thats it, there were no real injury issues.
This one is too obvious.

IDC if he's indeed a liar then im glad we let him walk

i want tough, resilient players who have no reason to talk about a new contract when they could just show it on the field

I dont really think quite like that. However, it has always bothered me a lot

how this administration is all holier than though and “Wont put up with nonsense” and bla bla. No wonder why we don’t have a true number one receiver. Look one thing is to want to have a team full of good guys and a positive atmosphere on the locker room, but if you think you will win Super Bowls with a roster full of choir boys you better rethink your strategy. Bengals put up with the 85 nonsense this offseason, now its paying off. NE put up with Randy Moss and took a risk and they had a perfect regular season. Last year the Cardinals put up with Boldin after he basically assaulted his OC and rode him and Fitz to the Super Bowl. So, this administration needs to put things in perspective and take risks.

One thing wrong with your argument.

None of those teams have won a super bowl with those players. Of the last 10 super bowl winners, the only diva WR to play for the winning team was Plax. You could make an argument for Keyshawn on the Bucs, but he was more mature at that point and accepted his role as the possession receiver.

Not all #1 receivers are headaches, so why go and chase one who is? Larry Fitzgerald, Hines Ward, Torry Holt, Mike Sims-Walker, Miles Austin, Marques Colston, Andre Johnson, and Steve Smith (CAR) to name a few.

by luvs2drnk on Jan 2, 2010 1:22 AM EST up reply actions

how many of those are on the market in their prime?

If not for the failure of a CBA next year.

The following would be on the market next year:

Vincent Jackson, Miles Austin, Steve Breaston, and Malcolm Floyd.

But that’s just next year. I’m sure when players such as Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Marques Colston, and Mike Sims-Walker’s contracts run out, if their teams aren’t winning they may look at going to contenders for less money.

by luvs2drnk on Jan 2, 2010 4:12 AM EST up reply actions

vincent jackson and miles austin are the only possible #1

and both, especially miles austin, arent going anywhere.

i dont really consider austin a #1

and malcom floyd is huge, he can definitely turn into a #1, but, i wluld rather get someone, like jackson, who is a true, #1, someone we dont hav to gamble on

Compared to guys like Ocho, TO, Moss, Boldin, and Marshall

Smith is like a choir boy. Sure he’s had some beefs before, but I think they were just his frustration coming out. There isn’t a coach in the league that wouldn’t want him in a heartbeat, without any reservations.

Y does he deserve money when this guy didnt even play a regular season game when he started complaining

Matt Roth?? go have fun in Clevland

Matt Roth can go play in Clevland … I don’t think he would ever do anything that great with our team anyways. The whole stunt w.e. it was still isn’t worth it IMO, just shows bad character and that should never be tolerated in a game where you must always trust the person next to you.

Stats are always miss leading because you can never take one persons stats and expect them to be the same on your team due to some many factors. I’m sure he will put up decent numbers there but they lack talent so he will get an opportunity to make impact plays … just look at Roy Williams and his numbers that dropped off once he went from the crap Lions to the better Cowboys and I think Roth would fit in the same catergory.
