Put Them On An Island
This is probably a disastrous suggestion, but hey, how has it not already been disastrous?
But I say we should put Smith (or Davis) and Allen both on man coverage. Leave them unassisted with the free safety providing stop gap over top on the number 1 receiver side or man-up on the slot.
The SS and the Sam backer would then be put on the tight end every second and third down of 6 plus yards. The SS on every other down would key off the tight end solo.
Our front three plus the two OLBs and the Mike are enough to stop the run.
Basically I don't think the Phins can coddle the CBs any longer. Let them run and play. We have to adjust to stop the hot routes and tight end routes. Against the Colts we had a pass rush but the tight end was getting open too fast for the rush to develop. JT had a poor game, but in his defense he appeared within the picture as Manning threw the ball plent of times.
How can we sack the QB if the receivers/ backs are open in no time at all?

That's a very astute observation.
The coaches have to take the training wheels off of Sean Smith and Vontae Davis. But be prepared for them to get torched more than once.

here's an idea
why not take the OLB – and put him on the line right over the TE on passing downs and when the TE comes off the line… just grab a hold of him – if he’s flagged, well it’s only a 5 yard penalty vs. the TD and if he can take the TE out … bonus…
Chad Pennington - The Lame Ducker aka the progress stopper.
So do you think the Jets intentionally did it to set the organization back 3 years or was it just an unintended side effect of their move.

You're a wise man, wnyff
That is the ultimate stopgap logic.
Armchair QB's always complete the pass and armchair coaches always pick the right players.
Yes, Larry Little is still the man.

Normally I would say that taking a penalty
intentionally is the stupidist thing I have ever heard but it may have been a way to at least slow them down on Monday night and could have saved the game for us.

I think one of the biggest mistakes defenses make in the NFL is giving a TE a free release
I think an OLB or DE needs to hold up TE routes. Hit him on the LOS. It is too easy for a TE to get to the middle of the of field on quick throws from the QB.
Defenses give free releases to TE’s because they want immediate pressure on the QB. I would rather sacrifice a little pressure from one player (others can apply pressure I believe) and disrupt the route. A TE on a Safety or LB is usually won by the TE. So why make it easier for him?

Good idea wnyff
Use your olb like a TE and chip block or delay him enough to throw the timing off. Same concept if you have a DE giving your offense fits like ATL.

I love it
Antoinio Gates happens to be a higher caliber TE than the last two that burnt us bad..dont get me wrong they are good and one is a hall of famer at end of the road,,buy gates we need to Rip to the ground and kick him in the Balls. I would even let Merling get a hold of hom for a quickie…
A feeding frenzy is about to take place in the dirty south
