Passing from a Modified Wildcat Formation

Reason why we would want to try some form of modified wildcat:

With Donald Thomas, Vernon Carey, and Jake Long on the right side of the line (RG RT LT), if they run the ball, they have a distinct man-v-man size/strength advantage.

The problem lies is being able to pass effectively from this formation so that the defense can't simply run blitz the overloaded line.

Here's my attempt to provide a viable passing dimension to a modified Wildcat formation.

Instead of placing Chad Pennington at the WR position, I am keeping him in or near the backfield.

The Wingback in the single wing slot provides the Jet Sweep option (or Ted Ginn from the WR position) as well as provides additional pass protection if needed.

The Tailback deep supplies the Power/Counter option on the backside.

The QB originating from the backfield allows the offense to pass as one last resort option to keep the defense honest.

What do you think?

Option 1A: Either TG or RB motions right to take possible Wildcat handoff from CP

Option 1B: RB motions right as an HB-blocker to designated hole for Dive Play.

Option 1C: No Motion, RB blocks or goes into pattern from the slot.

Option 2: Play Action to RW

Option 3: CP pass (from rolling pocket to the right)

Note that Pat White would be dangerous from the QB position.

Set II: RW at QB. CP at TB
