Recent Developments
Well, I don't post here very often. I do read almost every word written here, and that has added a whole new dimension to my Dolphins mania. I feel more connected to the team thru this community, and I know I am a more educated fan today than I was before I found The Phinsider. Recent developments have given me more ideas and thoughts I want to share than my usual "lurking in the comments sections" gives me a chance to express. So here goes:
After that "lightening in a bottle" 2008 season that was just pure magic in so many ways, I have actually spent most of the last 12 months not wanting to admit that I was a little apprehensive about 2009. First, because last season was so special, I didn't want anything to come along and tarnish what 2008 was. I have been a lifelong Dolphan, and I felt things last year that I had forgotten how to feel about the team that I love best. Next was the simple fact that we do have a hellish schedule to play this year. Even though I loved what we accomplished last year, I could see that it took everything going our way to get it done against lesser competition than we face this year.
Recently though, I have gained a calm sense of certainty that this years team is way above the caliber of last years team. I am going out on a limb here predicting our defense to be top 5 this year. At almost every position, we have serious studs that will knock your block off. Sean and Vontae and Gibril are very welcome additions in how physically they approach the responsibilities of their positions. No more will I cringe watching Goodman sidestep a tackle and then try to ballhawk from behind in order to avoid contact. Of course, we all know what JT, JP, and YBell bring. That leaves Channing Crowder. Very little comment on this guy all off-season and pre-season. Watch him. I believe he is going to really have a break out year this year. He has gotten better and better, and he's also playing a very physical brand of football.
Our offense will be better too. Man, I'm prayin for a whole season of Donald Thomas. Ronnie and Ricky will be better behind this O-line. Patrick Cobbs and Devon Bess will be playing with serious confidence. They both don't have to wonder anymore if they can really play in this league. The draft picks at WR are lookin good, too. Now we are so deep at WR that no one even worries about that position. Our "QB" controversy is ridiculous. I am CP10 biggest fan, but I really believe this offense has great opportunity no matter which Dolphins QB is runnin the show.
And let me count the ways I love the brain trust behind it all. Thank you guys for cutting Eric Green and Ernest Wilford. That was well done not waiting till cuts had to be made. Just pack your sh_t, fellas! That sends a message...again. These guys runnin this thing are serious. They want a ring. You can just feel what they are buildin.
Lookin forward to seein it all play out. Can't wait!

Armchair QB's always complete the pass and armchair coaches always pick the right players.
Yes, Larry Little is still the man.

my only comment will be …. while i agree the defense is much improved… it won’t be early…. you don’t change 4 of the 5 starters in the secondary and not have some issues, especially when you face P manning and p rivers in the first 3 weeks..
Chad Pennington - The Lame Ducker aka the progress stopper.
So do you think the Jets intentionally did it to set the organization back 3 years or was it just an unintended side effect of their move.
I'm thinking that we should be able to get to the QB better this year.........
And, that should help out the DB’s. One thing is for sure,………it WILL be interesting !!!

The DB's are going to be able to take a nap on the sidelines this year.
1st & 10 – Peezy sack for 5
2nd & 15 – JT sack for 4
3rd & 19 – QB retires when he sees Wake is there for a sack.
DB’s don’t have to do much when the QB is spending each play finding out how soft his arse is!

oh i agree
they should be better this year, just not at the start… the secondary is all about communication and there has been WAY too much turnover back there for any coheasion to have developed… it’ll get there but there will be miscommunications and blown assignments early and it will be ugly.

Yeah
They better let it fly in a hurry. And we’ll stay fresh the whole game up front. We got a lotta hungry talent on that front. We can sub in and out a lot with no loss of pressure.
