Observations on PSG #2:Vs CAR

There is no better feeling than to come back from  a winning football game, my voice is hoarse, I came home soaked, seaty and sleepy, but man I love football.


Panthers vs Dolphins coverage

D-Fence! D-Fence!

- Many of  us wondered how Vonate woudl respond and respond he did, he had  a very good game, he had solid coverage all night, and was excellent in run support. I wish he could have tried to make plays on the ball more, ie he should have turned around when he was covering that WR in the end zone, I bet he would have had  a pick. He ahd a nice TFL.

- I cant say the same for Tyrone Culver

- Or Nathan Jones.

- Too bad Jason Allen couldnt play, he needs the practice.

- Crowder had another solid game, he's got to earn that $$$.

- Quentin Moses had  a suprisngly good game, Roth better watch his back, in fact Moses Tony McD and Wake all put pressure on McClown.

- Merling was actually starting,he didnt look half bad, Langford palyed OK.

- Joey and Jason both got some push on the line, no worries there.

- Clemons was all over field.

- Paul Soliai played really well, He is much improved since last year, now he just has to stay out of trouble.

- Bleep the Refs Cameron Wake had a sack, he had soem trouble against the first team O but other wise he looked good.

- Our Run Defense will be solid, no question about that and our Secondary has alot of potential.

- We let Carolina drive on us too much, too many players ahd palyed off the WRs, giving them room.

- Too many missed tackles, we should have had many more TFLs.

Offense

- Like Vontae Davis, the OL made amends tonight,  Donald Thomas was a big part of that. Jake Grove played better than he did on Monday.

- Pass protection was solid.

- Jake Long got beat by a backup, giving up a sack, he manhandled Peppers though.

- Hilliard wont last very long stashed on the Practice Squad, he's fast, tough and has good hands to top it off. From now on lets call him "T-Lex".

- Ginn ran some nice routes, although the stat line wont reflect that.

- Turner had a solid game, although he did drop a  pass, which seemed to be the theme of the WR's performance tonight.

- Bess should have caught that ball.

- GC saw limited action.

- Hartline looked decent.

- Tony Sparano confirmed the obvious: No new wildcat looks were shown. The old stuff still works though, cant wait to see the new wrinkles.

-Intrestingly enough, Pennington had a nice block on Chris Gamble when he was at WR.

- Man I love that reverse fleaflicker, so far its worked 2/3 times its been used.

- Oh Chad Penningtion was Chad Penningtion as you all saw, 8/11 for 135 and a TD.

- Ronnie needs more passes his way, he was on fire tonight, 74 TOS on ten total touches.

- Ricky played very good, the NFL better watch out for our 3 headed monster.

- White didnt get enough touches for me to really judge how he played, Sparano's original plan was to get him more snaps but he didnt want him to cut into Henne's reps.

- Chad Henne had a solid outing, completing 62% of his passes and getting the clinching TD. He overthrew Turner and Wilford on 2 seperate plays and locked onto his WRs at times though. Overall I'd say he played well, he managed the game well and led 2 TD drives.

Special Teams:

- Chris Williams had  a colossal meltdown, hell be lucky if he lasts past the first wave of cuts.

- DC$'s long FG and Touchback should keep him ahead of Connor Barth.

- Our Coverage units were nothing special.

- It looks like the returner competion will be between Armstrong, Hartline and Bess.

- Brandon Fields had a few nice punts, the longest being 55 yards and 3 of his 5 punts  landed inside the 20, thats 60%. for those of you who know their simple divison.

Other:

-  I hope that ref dies in a fire, if you think thats harsh you should have heard me yelling out there, I sure as hell hope he did.

-  Lets see:

1) Bulls*** PI call.

2) Bull***llegal block call, that was reversed for whatever reason

3) We had that fumble.

4) Cameron Wake had a sack.

- Fun Fact: Tommy Lee, Katy Parry, Flo Rida Cheech and Chong, and the Black Eyed Peas are all Finfans

- The Jimmy Buffet song is no better than T-Pain's.

- Its nice to see the stadium so full for a preseason game.

- The Reair is at  1:00 on the NFL Network.
