Your first time at Joe Robbie/Pro Player/Dolphin/Landshark Stadium
This is just an open thread for all of you to post your first ever experience at Joe Robbie Stadium. I would like to read everyone's first experience because i am not from South Florida, and my first time at the stadium was in 2000.
I had bought tickets with a buddy of mine to fly down for the weekend and attend the Sunday night ESPN game where Miami played Baltimore, and retired Marino's Jersey at halftime. It was my first trip to Miami, and what a memorable one it was. The night before the game, after having one too many cocktails, and sitting in the lobby of our Davie hotel, my buddy noticed these guys wheeling this huge framed piece of memorabilia through the lobby. He told me to turn around, and i saw the actual items that they presented to Dan at halftime of Sunday nights game. It was incredible, and i went to the people and asked them where they bought those items, and they told me that they were giving them to Dan during the game the next night. I told them my story, that i was from CT and that i had flown down just to see the game, and begged for them to take a picture with it. At first they were reluctant, but they let me take one. It was amazing.
Next up-GAMEDAY. My buddy and i taxied to Pro Player stadium and once we pulled up to it, it was like taking the long journey to the Holy Land. I walked through the tunnel for the first time to see a sea of aqua, and orange seats, the ring of honor, and everything that being a Dolphin fan was about. The people, the atmosphere, and knowing what was gonna happen at halftime made the experience even more special. For those of you who were there, it rained all game, EXCEPT when good ol' #13 came out onto the field, and received his place in the ring of honor. Once the presentation was over, and he went back into the players tunnel, the rain started up again. It was like he was truly a God in South Florida. We went on to win the game 19-6, by a total of 13 points (Ironic), and from there i made a promise that i would return as many times as possible.
I have now been there four times, and see no end in sight. That's it-that was my experience, and i hope you enjoyed it. Please feel free to share your stories as well.

I WAS AT THE GAME ALSO!!! lol thats awesome
i have been to the stadium countless times (both for Dolphins and Marlins games, i used to split season tix for both teams with a few fam friends, as well as UM)…my first time though (i think, my memories kinda mushed together from my younger days) i was 6, went to the game with a friend and his dad (fucking hate both of them now though lol) and we were playing the Bills… i remember walking in and just being amazed at the amount of people all dressed in DOlphins gear and chanting…then i remember walking up the spiral ramps to our seats…don’t remember the game itself much (remember i was very young, and still didnt know the game too well and was easily distracted lol)…but one moment in the game jumps out at me…a player was injured and my friend told me a guy got stepped on, so i remember thinkin he was stepped on like a bug and just smushed lol, and then the ref made an announcement to add time to the clock, i was ecstatic lol

I ain't there yet!
When I am you’ll all know it.
For taking so long to get there, I’ll be the self-flagellating ‘opus deilphin’ walking my way in, beating myself with a knotted cord.
(I refuse to pay parking rates).

hey, really cool post
my first time in JOE ROBBIE stadium was in the mid eighties, i was about 5 years old. this trip was not for a game infact, but for a raffle. they were giving away a minivan with dolphins logos all over it, and my mom took me and my brother. as i remember, my brother and i were misbehaving. so my mom told us they were going to give the van to the most behaved people, lol. of course we believed and tried our best (for a 5 and 4 year old) to behave. all i really remember besides that is that i hated the food, and we didnt win the van! it was very confusing because i thought we were very well behaved!!

Wow. Great story! Wassup fellas? Been visiting this site for a few years now. I signed up some time ago but couldn’t remember my login info so I rejoined just to respond to this thread!!
First of all I was at that very same Ravens game as well and I do remember the rain and how it stopped for the Marino ceremony. In fact when I got home I told all my friends that Dan came out at halftime and extended his arms towards the heavens and the clouds parted like the red sea and the rain stopped.
Now on to my first time. It was November of 1990 and it was a Cardinals game. Can’t remember if they were Arizona or Pheonix at the time but we won the game 20 to 3 or something like that. Born and raised and living in Jacksonville Fl. I’d been a fan since the undefeated season and had never been to a game. Didn’t realize how easy it was to get tickets and drive down I guess. Well I got tickets and my girlfriend and I drove down. We got to the stadium around 11:30 for the 1 o’clock kickoff. My hometown of Jacksonville had been trying since the 70’s to be considered for an NFL franchise and talk of expansion was heating up again so we made about a 6’ by 8’ sign that said “BRING NFL TO JACKSONVILLE”. Our seats were in the upper section but we got there early enough to go down to the end zone near the tunnel. We took some tape and taped our sign to the wall in the end zone. We couldn’t get on the field so a security guard helped us tape the bottom part. A few players were out stretching and warming up and Ferrell Edmonds was among them and he threw me a wrist band as he went left the field. We left and went to out seats and enjoyed the victory. I recorded the game as always and every time a field goal or extra point was kicked at that end of the field you saw our sign in the end zone. Niether I nor my girlfriend was working at the time and we scraped up all we had to go to the game so we had very little for souvenirs but wanted something. Couldn’t afford a shirt or hat or anything so the cheapest thing was the foam number one finger, so thats what we got.
Well since that day I’ve gone to at least one game every year sometimes a couple, the Jacksonville Jaguars are in their 15th season, the girlfriend who went with me is now my wife of 16 years, and the foam finger is on the wall in our garage.
This year you can catch us at the Atlanta game in Atlanta on Sept. 13, the Monday night Jet game on Oct. 12th or of course the game at Jacksonville on Dec. 13th.

i was wayyyy too young to remember my first exp in Joe Robbie
But we used to have Marlins season tickets, and would go to Dolphins preseason games (because we were poor and could rarely afford regular season games)
My first recollection of going to a game, that is clear & vivid was when I was about six years old. It was a Thursday, during the school year, and my parents let me sleep in, so I finally woke up around 10:00a and was wondering why they hadn’t woken me up for school (they weren’t in the business of letting me skip school, under any circumstances). Today, I was informed, we were all playing “hooky”. So, we went to Krispy Kreme to watch the doughnuts be made and have fresh, soft, warm, melt in your mouth glaze to our hearts content. Then we went to the park, played for hours, and as we got home and took our showers, instead of having my church clothes layed out, my Dolphins jersey was on the bed. I knew the Dolphins were playing tonight, but I was under the impression I would have to watch the recorded game, after church. I walk out to the kitchen and on the counter are four tickets to the Dolphins versus the Vikings! I was soo excited, I ran around the house, I sang the fight song, I spear tackled my sister into a wall. We lost that game, not a big deal, but I got to see my favorite player at the time, O.J. McDuffie in the flesh. Ahh, memories.
