Great Article By Lombardi
He pretty much took the words out my mouth. Thanks Matty for posting that as it was a unbiased and factual article. But I want to talk about the question Matty asked MaPatsFan on his website. How come the Dolphins/Patriots rivalry is so overlooked?
On another note, I really am wondering how Rex Ryan's team will be this year. While he is a great Defensive man, It takes more than defense to win games. Everyone has to click to become a great team. I believe Ryan will cry when the Patriots beat them this year and Bellicheck makes him kiss his pinky rings lol. The Bills will be what they always are, either very good and competitive this year or will they just be the same old Bills??

First of all
laughed my @ss off, that was seriously funny:>D but it is true that this tremendous rivalry is overlooked, and it has been going on since the 80s, does anyone remember that AFC Championship game in Miami, 1985 season.
We have a good lead and then the rains came, and then the loss, we were the 1 and only team to beat the Bears that year, we were custom made to beat the Bears. The Pats were utterly embarrassed in the SB by the Bears.
The Bears had the best pass rushing team in history, we had the best pass protection team in history, their biggest weakness on defense was coverage in their secondary, our biggest asset on our entire team was victimizing secondaries.
To this day i am convinced that we would have won that SB, Dans best chance to have that ring he so richly deserves, and thanks to a little bad weather, and those sons of plague infested lice, otherwise known as the Pats.
This is one of the NFLs greatest rivalries, and it gets no play, yet, there are many great rivalries in the NFL, and many that are much older, some even older than our franchise, but we are laying the ground work of the future, when we get all the play, because of our 2 great rivalries with the Pats and the steJ.

It remains to be seen
if Rex Ryan deserves all of the praise that he is given for the Ravens defense. How much of it was from his coaching, and how much was from the fact that he had great defensive players and leaders in Ray Lewis and Ed Reed as the foundation of his defense?
Yeah, he has Bart Scott and Jim Leonhard, but even with those guys, the Jets defense is not the same caliber as what he had on the Ravens. I guess we’ll have to wait and see when the season starts.

Don't forget Suggs, Ngata, McAlister/Rolle, and the rest of em..
He only brought 2 pieces with him to NY, and there isn’t anybody on that roster that can fill the Ray Lewis role, they’re lacking in pass rush (Pace and Gholston were both disappointments last year), and they definitely don’t have anybody that can mimic Ed Reed (sorry Kerry Rhodes, you ain’t Ed).

True
I wasn’t trying to leave out those guys intentionally or say that they didn’t contribute as much, just wanting to give a couple of examples.
But you are absolutely right, there isn’t anyone on the Jets roster who can fill the shoes of any of those guys in terms of what they bring to the defense other than athletic ability. Their leadership, intensity, and ability to make others around you play better are talents that cannot be learned or taught, but are just natural things that you either have, or you don’t. And right now, the Jets don’t.

I agree
I was just piling on your point and showing how much talent Ryan had around him in BMore lol

Yep
And then he left and went to the waiting room where talent goes to die, the Jets. If he wants to complete the cycle, then in a couple years he’ll quit the Jets and go to the black hole of talent, the Raiders. LOL
