O-line will pave the way

It all starts in the trenches in the NFL.  If you can clog the middle on defense and keep the offensive linemen off your linebackers it opens up a world of options for defensive scheming and shrinks the offensive playbook. Hence, the importance of NTs Jason Ferguson and the rest of the beasts in the AFC East.

Conversely, if you can put together a nasty, athletic and tough O-line that can gel together and punish the defense inside and out, it completely opens up the offensive playbook.  Ronnie and Ricky running in space are always a threat to take it to the house.  I can go on and on about a team that can run effectively can do everything else on offense effectively... but the bottom line is that a defense that has to guess and react to an unpredictable offense will be deflated quickly, especially if they are getting punished each down.

I was worried that we would play musical O-line again, at least at the right guard position and they would not have the time to gel.  After reading the attached article it sounds like we will have one of the most formidable O-lines in the league because our big guy Donald Thomas looks like he will be back, stronger than before, early enough for the O-line to work throughout training camp together.

The Long, Smiley, Grove, Thomas, Carey combination has me salivating! When was the last time we had our entire starting O-line in place at the start of training camp.  Sparano, will be able to impart his trench knowledge on these guys and it will open up the playbook for greatness.

Watch for a breakout season from the Miami offensive!  If we can continue to grow on defense, with the mix of veteran and young talent it could be a very special season.  I absolutely love how the common theme for this team is that everyone is getting stronger, faster, and tougher in the offseason.  We are hungry and work harder than any team in the NFL.  Take your money out of the stock market and put it on the Dolphins and the over (8 wins) for 100% return on investment.  GUARANTEED!!!

PTR

Pound The Rock. If we can do that, everything else becomes more effective. Our WR’s will see more man coverage. Defenses will play more single-high safety instead of Cover 2’s, because they need to bring a safety up. Our TE’s will be more effective because the LB’s will bite harder on Play Action. And our defense will be better because they will have the opportunity to rest, as well as play with a long field behind them. And the biggest key to all this is the OL.
