NFL Draft Moving to May?!?!?

I tried posting this in a Fanshot, apparently I can't figure it out...

The NFL is toying with the idea, and says it is a strong possibility the NFL Draft moves to a weekend in May!  As a fan I think this a horrible idea, and the months of March and April are the longest months of they year!

Looking at from the NFL stand point the only thing I can see is playes like Hartline who could not attend OTA's because of Ohio States graduation rule...

I hope this does not happen

It does suck

But it’s not so much they want to move it to May as it is they want to keep it the same amount of weeks after the Super Bowl. And the Super Bowl this year falls VERY late – like Feb. 7 or something….which might push the draft into the first weekend of May.

It would suck…but you can blame it all on the calendar….Labor Day falling on September 7 pushed everything in the NFL back this year because the league doesn’t want to start the season on Labor Day weekend.

Can you imagine if they add those extra games!

They keep talking about it extending into the Winter and pushing the superbowl back. But they talk about eliminating two pre-season games, so why not play the two regular season games in August, where the Pre-season games were?

The Players Union is also

going to ask for more money because the players have to go through two more weeks of “manual labor”. Its all grubby money men looking for more.

I just hate the idea of moving the Pro bowl

to a different date and location. Its so stupid, i rather go to Hawaii after 16 or so weeks or demanding football. Even if i was paid a couple million

So, we now have Jason Taylor back for $1.1-1.5 million - AND we get Washindton's 6th round pick next year - AND we got Pat White with the Skins' pick this year? I LOVE THIS FRONT OFFICE!!!!!

My birthday is April 26th

So recently, I looked forward to the draft as a sort of birthday present. Now, I get nothing…

But yeah, I hate the idea of the expanded schedule, and this just seems silly. Other than an arbitrary time period between the end of the season and the draft, what sense is there in this move?

Does it also mean the free agency period will be moved back as well?

May is already a great sports month.

Baseball in full swing, Kentucky Derby, NBA and NHL playoffs getting good.

No need to wedge the NFL draft in there.

Now we have to wait longer for the draft

Hill earned the starting job for the 2009 season by beating out Alex Smith, who missed last season after re-injuring his surgically repaired throwing shoulder. Head coach Mike Singletary largely chose Hill based on his play down the stretch last year: he went 5-3 over the final eight games and he also owns a 5-0 record at home in Candlestick Park.
