The Peter Prisco Playbook

Introducing The Peter Prisco “When We’re Finished With You, You’re Gonna Hate the Wildcat Also” Playbook

Peter Prisco penned that he hated the Wildcat Offense. So I thought of all of the Wildcat plays
I could think of and put them together in a playbook that I named in his honor.

My philosophy for running Wildcat plays would be similar to what some offensive coordinators do.
They script the first 20-24 plays and then see how the defense reacts to the plays.
The advantage is that the team can practice these plays over and over again and fine-tune the execution.

My thought is, “Why not use the Wildcat AT THE BEGINNING of the game from a pre-prepared script of plays using the same personnel in a NO HUDDLE offense?”
There would be some disadvantages (for example, Chad Henne split out wide on some plays),
but the advantages of
surprise,
preventing substitution and reorganization of the defense in a huddle,
taking away the aggressiveness of the defensive game plan,
and the added improved execution from additional practice would outweigh the disadvantages.
It would also probably force the defense to burn some timeouts to get the right personnel on the field or to stop a blatant mismatch or confusion in lining up.

I have six different SETS for the Wildcat below.
I envision the coaching staff would just call out (or pass the word along) which set they wanted and a row of people on the sidelines could hold up cards with roman numerals on it to inform/remind the players on the field (remember it is scripted).
The route combinations for the receivers would be based on distance, not on down.
So the route combinations would be pre-set and be the same for 6 possible combinations:
A] 1 yard or less to go
B] 2-4 yards to go
C] 5-7 yards to go
D] 8-10 yards to go
E] 11-14 yards to go
F] 15 or more yards to go

If you are a receiver, just look at the down and distance and based on where you line up in the formation, you will know what route to run.
It eventually can be made more complicated by having different route combinations based on distance for each set, but at the beginning to minimize confusion, they can keep it simple.

I see the other teams defense would be so shocked and awed by the no-huddle option attack that they would be demoralized even when the Dolphins were not running it anymore.

Without further ado, here’s the Peter Prisco Playbook:

I still believe dolphdallas should be an offensive coordinator. All season long he would just come up with this stuff and whats great about it is that they seem like they would actually work.

I like it again haha =) the whole idea of having a pre-scripted set is good. This might be even bettter when (hopefully soon) we officially coin henne as our starter and just flow in pat white to give more explosiveness and add a surprise factor. overall keep em comin

I believe in John Beck and that Cbdolphin is the man. I'll make you proud LCFF

Did Chad Pennington just all of a sudden begin to suck overnight? Did he forget how to play football?

I think the more important question is...

How does FXF switch loyalty from Beck to Henne that easily? All about how Beck will be a great Starting QB for us, and immediately accepts Henne as the QB of the future…

So, we now have Jason Taylor back for $1.1-1.5 million - AND we get Washindton's 6th round pick next year - AND we got Pat White with the Skins' pick this year? I LOVE THIS FRONT OFFICE!!!!!

Well X can't ask for Beck to start

he’s not on the team, and X’s point is really that we need to find out if he is the guy, because we all know that CP is not the long term answer, its a solid theory:>)

Maybe come out with the regular offense set in the first half

And then the first series of the second half. Wildcat them to death. It lets us see how the D reacts to both sets.

A dfferent view of things

Isn’t the point of having Pat White running the wildcat to allow the Dolphins the ability to keep the Chads off the field and use a real receiving threat in their place. I like what you did here but I would swap out a Chad for a wide receiver and have Pat White taking the snaps. At worst you split out White and run it the way we did last year with Brown taking the snap. In that set White would at least keep a DB a little honest as a receiving threat, something Henne nor Pennington ever would.

IMO the Wild Cat will not work as a regular offense

Each time the Wild Cat is run in this season there should be a new twist on it so it is never the same. This will help keep the defense guessing. Maybe 4-6 Wild Cat type plays a game will be good.

I do like the Fins coming out with the Wild Cat on the first play of the game against Atlanta, I think it is great formation to use after a long play from scrimage a long punt of kick return or a T.O. This keeps the defense from gainig their composure.

Yea, the Wildcat will nt=ot work as a regular offense, but..

With Pennington or Henne in along with White, that gives the offense the element of surprise, and keeps the defense on their heels. I like this idea, you should phone this in to the Dolphins if they haven’t already thought about it.

excuse me can anyone play the e.wilfolk hb & can we keep defence's off balance with that opt.

our defence, has seen this wild cat for some time. but the other day you said or there were report’s of mass confusion when ernest played h.b. & he opptioned & yet i’m wondering can any of our wideout’s play this, just to keep defence’s honest!

Your guess is as good as mine

but he has to start catching passes in practice lol, cuz all I’m hearing is that he’s dropping a lot of them.
