Does Jason Taylor have a handshake agreement with Pats?

The Providence Journal reports there are those who believe Jason Taylor(notes) is just a stroke of a pen away from becoming a member of the New England Patriots. Many believe there is already a handshake agreement in place.

The Journal noted that New England coach Bill Belichick has great respect for Taylor. The Journal wrote: it's not too far-fetched to think that he'll be given a playbook, told to study up, and stay in shape until training camp begins at the end of July. That would give Taylor maximum time with his family.

Belichick has made similar concessions for certain veterans in the past: Vinny Testaverde(notes) was allowed to sit out most of training camp a few years ago, and Roman Phifer had permission to fly home to his family in California after Sunday games and return to the facility on Wednesday.
