New Policy
In the past couple of weeks, I've received a number of e-mails from people (some active community members, some not) complaining about all of the off-topic comments in football-related posts. So from now on, I'm going to enforce a new policy. The stuff that I deem "off topic" I will delete (minus live threads and whatnot).
We need to keep the focus on football. Those of you who are the worst offenders of this know who you are. Please tone it down. After all, this is a Dolphins blog - not a random social blog.
This has been a community guideline for a while (see #3).
I didn't want it to come to this, but I don't have a choice anymore. It's gotten out of hand.

I admit I was part of the problem
but as a blog about Miami that has a particularly large following I don’t see the problem in the occasional jest or OT comment in football related threads. Yes, it’s not related to football, but football is about bringing people together to have a good time, playing or spectating. We should be able to have fun, as long as things are funny.
May I suggest a “rate the funniness of that comment meter” on a scale of 1 to 10. If it goes below, let us say 5, the comment is deleted after 5 ratings averaged out. That way we can sort out the funny comments from the unfunny comments. Everyone wins except people who are not amusing.
And if people get serious then we lol, as group, at offended parties.

it was necessary to apologize because it was not a conscious effort on my part, or any of us for that matter, to disrupt the Phinsider in any way, I thought my admission of guilt and following the guideline would be enough, but I’ve had a day to let it sink in and I would like to say…
