PrintThe Dolphins have begun signing their draft picks - inking 5th round pick John Nalbone to a 4 year deal, according to Scout.com.
Nalbone received a $173,000 signing bonus and his 2009 salary will be $310,000. It will jump to $395,000 in 2010, $480,000 in 2011, and $565,000 in 2012.
Nalbone, out of Monmouth University, is expected to compete for a roster spot at tight end - but it won't be easy. The Dolphins have Anthony Fasano, David Martin, and Joey Haynos as holdovers from last year. They also brought in an undrafted tight end to compete for a roster spot.

Omar Kelly was on 790 talking about how he figured…with all the new additions at tight end….that Joey Haynos was as good as gone. But watching him in practice he would put him near the top of guys that stuck out and impressed….yeah its shorts and t-shirts practice…but he said he looked great. 6’8 tall drink of tight end baby

they are going to try him as an H-back....but I'm not counting on that experiment working

When they tossed the pen for Nalbone to sign the check, he immediely dropped it. Then he refused to sign the check from the Miami Dolphins because he thought that he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys. I guess they got everything worked out, though.
