Video Time: Pat White

It's time to get back to our weekly video time segment.  This week, we'll focus on the 44th overall pick in last weekend's draft - Pat White.  I wrote at length about why I love the Pat White pick earlier in the week.  So why not post some videos of our new Dolphin?

Yes - many of you probably have seen these videos before.  But some probably haven't.  All of the videos can be found after the jump...

I feel the same way about it

White has personality. It’s a weird one, but it’s funny.

By the way

That’s not a knock on the kid at all. I love seeing players playing a little loose and having fun like that :)

Then runs it in for a TD two plays later.

Wow. Nobody is ever going to question that kid’s toughness.

Not only that

It shows he never gives up on a play, one of the most underrated abilities a player can have.

Vision.

That is Pat White in one word. He sees things open up well before they actually open up. Alot of his long runs remind me of Reggie Bush’s long runs in college. (Not comparing the two) But, the way that he gets to the open field, has two or three guys out in front in the secondary to beat, and he cuts diagonally across the field at angles that leave the defenders with no chance in hell to get a hand on him; that is all very Reggie-esque.

I am a lifelong Dolphins fan and Mountaineer fan. I’ve had the opportunity to watch every one of PW’s home games. Watching these clips brings back some great memories. At the same time this gets me both geeked up for the NFL season and sad to not have PW on Saturdays. At times he looks like he is on ice skates.

I agree with all yall

my favorite play was the two defender take down. As finsx pointed out, it was reminiscent of the Tony Bua blowout block.
But PeeWee’s got skills, that’s for sure. I like the fact that he can throw the ball well, and is not just about running. But when he runs, and KC says, the lad’s got vision. He takes great angles!
And the best part of his running ability is something I wish he could teach Ginn… he keeps the defenders off balance. They are afraid to go full speed and commit, because they know he can juke them out of their cleats. So when he gets them slowing down, PeeWee has that extra gear he can hit to turn the corner on a defender.
It might not be blazing top end speed like Ginn, and he won’t be able to out run as many guys in the NFL, but that talent for setting up the defender is something that will always get him extra yards.
He is a good football player all around.

Well! I formally said "Im sorry"

This was a good pick. The kid is a QB and a hussler. Dont give up on any play. Has a good arm, placement of the ball. I like the kid to be our future QB!
What a speed, great cuts, good happy feets. This guy could bring something new to the entire Dolphin Franchise!! Dont expected BP to bring something like that to us!! Dont think BP ask to bring him here, this was more a Ocoordinators crying outloud to bring him here. Good that they were aloud! Feeling lil like went a kid have a new toy!! This season is gona be fun guys!! ; )

Ps Totally imprese with this kid abilities!!

I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(22 years and counting)

Beck to Baltimore

Apparently Baltimore signed Beck…

by FinsFromBrazil on May 2, 2009 1:07 PM EDT reply actions

Here is the quote from Rotoworld...

According to the Deseret News, the Ravens have signed QB John Beck.

Beck was dumped by the Dolphins, but Beck landed on his feet with the man that drafted him – Cam Cameron. He threw two touchdowns in five games with Miami, but also allowed eight turnovers. He’ll compete with Troy Smith for the backup job behind Joe Flacco, but is probably destined to be number three. Todd Bouman may get cut.

Hakeem nicks

2nd Video Hakeem Nicks is an absolute animal, Pat white should be throwing the ball to him on the dolphins

by Crazysimon on May 2, 2009 1:19 PM EDT reply actions

no

I’ll take our 2 rookie corners over Nicks.

by Matty I on May 2, 2009 5:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Good for Beck..

Im glad he was picked up. I still believe he can be a good QB in the NFL Now most likely he wont ever get a shot being behind new found super sar Flacco.. but glad hes still getting some kind of shot.

by jdtman on May 2, 2009 3:07 PM EDT reply actions

Just remember

that people that hate on Beck. He was a Dolphin, I wish the guy has a chance anywhere. He didnt leave a Phin cuz he wanted to but was cut. & As many prior phins that have been cut, he probably will get some starts & maybe do real good for another team.

anyway. Im really excited about Pat White, cuz im in Va the two main college teams seen on TV here were WVa & USC I saw him play alot & when I imported my draft class to madden he was a top 10 pick, I played against him after 3 season & he was the starter & his potential was full on madden.. I love this kid, cant wait to see what he does, he may honestly be our QB of the future or maybe Henne, im rooting for both, I just want to win!

& if you havent noticed, the NFL is trying to switch to a “high scoring” offensive game, because alot of people love to see it. I think we will have a great team in 2-3 more years, maybe even a dynasty, hopefully we will rule the 10’s-20’s.. I hope so, im tired of not seeing phin games anymore because of the damn Pats, & im tired of ESPN always kissing upstate ass!!

As a West Virginia & Dolphins fan.....

This is my greatest dream.

After watching him for literally every play he played at WVU, Pat is a class act in every since of the word at all times. I hope he gets the shot to play QB in the NFL. If he can’t hack it I think he can accept that and take on whatever role he can to help the Fins win.

Matty didn't really have time

to read all o fyour post about you loving the pick, but I love it too. Probably for different reasosn to you. I honestly don’t see this pick as a threat to the Chad Henne situation at all.

Lets be realistic here. As much as we would like to believe, Pennington is not gonna stay to back up Henne if the Trio proceeds with their plans to move to Henne sometime this year or next. I love him becasue we can do some many things with him.

Yea we can use him at WR. Yea we can use him as a more passing threat as the wildcat QB. But we can also use him as a back up QB. Thats right the back up to Henne.
I think more than likely Pennington leaves when Henne is promoted to starting QB. And why pay a back up QB with no on field experience of the system and not to mention to just sit their and watch when we can use him?

Imagine having our back up QB (we might get another..I know) earn the money he is making, by being on the field, actually gettin onfield XP, keeping him happy with some passing in the wildcat formation all the while not really being at threat to the startin QB role.

If for some reason Henne goes down (God forbid) we can insert him and not have to worry how we think he will perform. He’d be ready because he would’ve taken at least a few snaps every game.

Absolutely brilliant move by the trio.

Dang I miss you guys. Hope to talk to you all again soon. Peace.
