we all know shit thats what we know

if you dont believe me look at our predictions for the last 4 weeks , we didnt have a clue about how parcells really thinks, not one thing

by MauMontaV5 on Apr 26, 2009 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah and we also said the rebuilding process was just in its 2nd year

and needed to build inside out and depth and go and draft a luxury player at 44 and 2 WR plus 2 Cb. We got it all wrong, strange draft

by MauMontaV5 on Apr 26, 2009 4:04 PM EDT up reply actions

we were mislead.....i remember reading

an article in the sunsentinel…..paraphrasing what jeff ireland said….we have many needs at different positions….?uhhh? Just WR/CB ?

by drey34 on Apr 26, 2009 4:09 PM EDT up reply actions

thats not what our GM said

he’ll be used in many ways….but he’s not really a WR

i think we’ll see him lined up in the backfield more than split out wide

by Matty I on Apr 26, 2009 4:01 PM EDT up reply actions

lets hope he becomes a WR..

i think he can do it…..if not then i scream WASTED PICK……

by drey34 on Apr 26, 2009 4:03 PM EDT up reply actions

absolutely no one was right we got it the entire thing wrong

Parcells doesnt draft Corners in round 1 – Boom Vontae Davis
We are not going to get Wideouts, we are not still in that phase of the rebuillding process- 2 WR 3th and 4th picks
We are building inside out we still have too many holes, Parcells is looking for the next LT- No LB drafted whatsoever

I don’t get or see the plan. Sign Green in FA, the draft 2 CB’s, now they are probably gonna release Green. Take White at least one round early to play WR presumably, then draft 2 WR on day 2. And now, don’t fill any needs at LB or NT when the chance presented itself. I don’t get it.

We addressed the Defense

Last year, our Defense was the reason we won most of those. We needed the improve the offense and that is exactly what we are doing

I dont get why everyone is so upset too

James T Paulson

by Jtpdolphins2009 on Apr 26, 2009 4:19 PM EDT reply actions

and our def was bad real bad sometimes

after akin who is our back up ILB….wat about DT….we took 2 WR in the 4th quite possibly the most important time in the draft…..

by drey34 on Apr 26, 2009 4:21 PM EDT up reply actions

The part of our defense

That was bad was our secondary, NOT our front 7

We addressed that by getting 2 CBs and a Safety, I would say that is pretty good

But I guess you know more they the trifecta lol

James T Paulson

by Jtpdolphins2009 on Apr 26, 2009 4:23 PM EDT up reply actions

i know that we have an 34 yr old DT

to ILB who just simply are not playmakers. I agree about the secondary….we needed upgrades…but like i said to take 2 WR in the 4th was terrible……if you cant see then u just dont know much about football

by drey34 on Apr 26, 2009 4:26 PM EDT up reply actions

we also have Soliai

and 2 FA’s we signed to try as NT’s. They must be high enough on them that they didn’t think we needed to draft one. Or they didn’t think any of the options in the draft were any good.

Top 4 were good picks

Hartline wasn’t a good one IMO

The TE is a nice pickup, and he’s a Parcells favorite (small school, jersey kid)

Gardner will be a good depth pickup because he’s a solid run blocker

by Enhalen on Apr 26, 2009 4:26 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't know who some of these guys are. But I can see the positions that they play.

Essentially 3 WR’s were drafted. That means Bess, Cam, or London will probably not be on the team. The phins had one of the most productive TE’s in the NFL, so they draft another one. And they signed Green to play CB in FA, then draft two CB high. Green is now probably going to be released. So what is the plan?

by ct1361 on Apr 26, 2009 4:28 PM EDT up reply actions

let's see

Green is terrible. Equate him to the David Kircus signing last year. Remember him? No, because he was cut after we signed Wilford instead.

Martin and Fasano are both FA’s after this season, so getting a TE now to adapt to our system is smart in case we don’t re-sign one of them. And you know how important the TE is in our offense.

Look a little harder and you can see the thinking behind most of the picks. Except Hartline. I don’t get that one

by Little Nicky 21 on Apr 26, 2009 4:29 PM EDT up reply actions

And they have 2 TEs who are FAs after the year.

And you know 99% of us will be saying we can only sign them IF they are cheap. They both won’t be cheap. Why not lock up some youth right now at TE, and then only worry about signing on of the FAs at the end of the year?

you’re acting like a little punk right now.. quit crying and whining and throwing a tantrum and explain why you don’t like the draft.

I can’t understand why you don’t like the WR’s picked since you were one of the leaders of the “we have crappy WR’s” bandwagon leading up to the draft..

The Trifecta must like the guys they got at LB, and they picked up a couple depth guys on the DL. I’m guessing they have high hopes for Wake and they think Roth can really step his game up this year.

I don't see anything I don't like about this draft.

I think a few of the picks have been surprsies, but like I Said earlier – this front office seems to have the plan to identify the need, make a pick, then back it up just in case the first guy flops.

Yeah, Hartline was probably a stretch, but if there wasn’t anything else they liked, the front office may as well have taken him. Can’t hurt to have another WR come in when we have such a HUGE need at the position…

Beck only gone if we get a GOOD trade for him. Otherwise, he continues as the #3, and White is a WR.

I don't get why you hate Vontae Davis?

He’s as talented a corner as there is. Our front office met with him a lot. They talked with his college coach – Ron Zook. They clearly don’t see his personality being a problem and he has STAR potential.

by Matty I on Apr 26, 2009 4:34 PM EDT up reply actions

I like Davis as a player. But in most other draft classes he would have 3rd or 4th on the board and probably a 2nd round pick.

Going into this draft, experts were saying that the CB class lack speed. And that is the most important aspect of the position. There were 7 LB’s that I thought should have been taken prior to the 1st CB. 3 of those LB’s were available for the phins. That is why I don’t like the Davis pick. Give me average CB’s and a dominant pass rush and I will take my chances.

Well let’s not judge the guy just because he got benched, they wouldn’t have taken him if they we’re not convince he didn’t have character issues. I give the FO the benefit of the doubt until the season begins. The 2 wr i agree we co;uld of done better there but the better WR we’re gone by that point. We address CB, WR and OT and got a potential game changer with White. But then again what do I know, is just my opinion.

Our defense was good last year, I really dont see where the gripe is because no one who has a problem with this draft has explained why.

The FO picked a player at the position that they wanted.

But I haven’t heard one draft expert, the guys who make the big money to rate these players, suggest that the position drafted was the next best available. Turner was rated 6th or 7th rounder. Hartline the same. The TE from Monmouth was a 7th rounder or FA. Where those guys were picked, that is a reach. I don’t know much about those players but for the most part I trust the experts.

Were the NYG CB's great when they won the Superbowl?

How about the Pittsburgh CB’s? I don’t think so. Both those teams had great pass rush though.

by ct1361 on Apr 26, 2009 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Why does any disagreement with what the FO does

evolve into “so you know more about building a Super Bowl team than Parcells?” I never claimed to know more than Parcells.

But since you asked, what superbowl team has Parcells built? He has coached a few, but never built one. And it is hard to win the superbowl when you can’t win a playoff game. And the teams that he has built hasn’t won one of those since ’98.

by ct1361 on Apr 26, 2009 5:02 PM EDT up reply actions

my point is there are many ways to build championship teams

and i’ve said all offseason that i wanted corners and I’m pumped that we got 2 good ones

by Matty I on Apr 26, 2009 5:04 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree. There are many ways to build superbowl teams

but when was the last one built around CB’s? A lot of them have been built around guys who can rush the passer. Are you satisfied with the pass rush that was generated last year?

by ct1361 on Apr 26, 2009 5:07 PM EDT up reply actions

no

but I was far more worried about our corners…cus outside of W.Allen, they stink

and Cam Wake is basically a 3rd round OLB….cant forget him

by Matty I on Apr 26, 2009 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions

But we don't know what Wake will do in the NFL.

There was a reason he was in Canada. I don’t like the fact that everyone is counting on him to replace Porter. Wouldn’t have been nice to see multiple guys trying out for the same position?

by ct1361 on Apr 26, 2009 5:11 PM EDT up reply actions

I like the fact that we went and got him and signed him

when half the league wanted him.

Canada isn’t the NFL, but it’s still Pro ball, and he racked up 39 sacks in 2 seasons. He can get to the QB, that’s a fact. If we think he’s the guy, why spend more money at that position on a guy that won’t play?

by Little Nicky 21 on Apr 26, 2009 5:13 PM EDT up reply actions

But you were the guy defending the TE pick

because the 2 TE’s currently on the roster are FA’s after next year. If you count Wake, the phins have two guys who can rush the passer. If Porter is on the downside, why not draft 1 more guys who can rush the passer? Can you ever have enought of those guys?

by ct1361 on Apr 26, 2009 5:18 PM EDT up reply actions

how are those connected??

We may need a STARTING TE after this season.. If Wake is the guy, you don’t need a starting Rush LB.

We jumped all over Erik Walden once he was waived last year as well.. so we don’t know how they feel about him as a LB either, but supposedly he’s learning the Rush backer position behind Wake and Porter.

And what’s the problem with waiting till next year to get one, when there may be a guy we like better, and we can take one higher?

by Little Nicky 21 on Apr 26, 2009 5:21 PM EDT up reply actions

There is no problem taking one next. I would take one every year.

If it is OK to build depth at other positions, why not rush OLB? You need at least 2 and other than Porter, I can’t name the other one. Until I see Wake do it, I am not convinced. My point is, why just rely on Wake? Why not 2 or 3 and see who is best?

by ct1361 on Apr 26, 2009 5:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Here's a fact:

Wake isn’t any more unproven than a rookie pass rusher. They’re all question marks, whether its a CFL guy or its a guy out of Texas or USC or any other college.

many of the players who play in canada

have played in college. that means they play not only with the same college experience as the players being drafted now, but theyve gained more experience, and faced more situations.

If you can succeed in Canada, you are imo more proven than someone coming out of college.

Does it mean you’ll succeed, not necessarily, but there shouldn’t be a hit on the guy cuz he comes from Canada.

By the way, wake is a beast!

We keep getting killed by the spread offense (see AZ and NE), and yet we should ignore the coverage guys because obviously the weakness was getting to the QB.

Physically

Vontae Davis is the best CB in this draft.. we dropped him because of character issues.. Parcells/Ireland/Sparano obviously feel like they can control those issues or they wouldn’t have taken him..

So IMO we got the best CB in the draft at the end of round 1. good pick

Pat white #1 (armstrong has 11 and 1 would be ba)
Vontae Davis #30
Sean Smith #31 (both starters in two years…be cool to make those numbers awesome and to be bad asses together)

if anybody can sustain success, it’s them. the pat white pick is very interesting

i think he provides great competition for henne, just look at what the FO did last year. They brought in player after player to compete and having white will push henne to become better. White will be able to do everything on offense plus the fact that if henne does turn out to be a bust we have another good QB to put in

Competition is the name of the game and White will compete as some level for QB time, but I agree that he has such a tremendous upside to him. He is a great fit for the Phins. I also love Pat Turner and the CB picks.

The Chiefs pick last at 256. That’s a comp pick. We must have gotten something for next year – a 6 or a seventh pick?

basically

Pioli is Parcells son-in-law (if i recall) so he gave KC a pick and Pioli said he’ll get us back next year.
