Pat White in Aqua and Orange?

I read this article on yahoo sports and found it to be very compelling. The reason I was intrigued by this article is the fact that it re-enforced Pat White's natural athletic abilities and the fact that he's a "football player".  period.  The kid performed pretty damn well at the combine.  We also know that the Trifecta loves to have guys that are multi talented.  Someone who can play multiple positions with short notice.  I think the kids got heart, an arm and legs that can help him in any offensive scheme he is put in.  There has been so much talk on here about picking up a receiver, running back some even say a new QB if we deal Beck.  These are all very important cogs to a team who expects to score more than 1 TD a game.  I think Pat White can also add a bit of zest.  I watched a few of his games, and I have to say the kid can down right play.  Not to mention you can't be a bust if you win 4 bowl games in your college career.  I think an addition like him would help with our offense.  He can play RB and be thrown the ball in the flats.  Defenses will have to respect the kids arm because they know of his back ground.  In turn opening up the offense just a little bit more for us.  He can even to some sort of trick plays where he throws the ball to Ronnie. Who knows the options are endless.  I am not saying that we can use him to solidify the wild cat, but it would not hurt.  Its an extra threat that the defenses have to plan and worry about.  I respect all of your guys opinions and would enjoy reading your input on this subject.

Sure, Pat White is worth a 4th round pick...

for a team like say, Pittsburgh or New England, both of which have the luxury of taking a niche player since they are loaded with talent on their respective rosters.

For the dolphins though, it makes more sense to address an obvious area of weakness. And I have to say, 3rd string QB and/or wildcat QB are not areas of weakness :)

By the way, I like Pat White and his game. He’s a real competitor, good attitude, and team guy. I think he’ll find some success as a role player in the NFL.

So give me a 3-4 nose tackle or a pass rushing linebacker in that slot, instead of Pat White.

Pat White seems like he'll be one of those guys

that’s average at a lot of positions, but great at none of them. I don’t envision him being a successful every-down QB, so playing him there is just a gimmick. I don’t think he’ll be a great WR, so it’s more of a trick-play threat out there. He could run back kicks and punts, but I’d rather have a guy that I KNOW can do those things because he did them in college, than a converted QB.

For every Antwaan Randle-El, there’s an Eric Crouch. I just see Pat White as being a mediocre NFL player, unless he goes to a team that has the luxury of using a trick-play/gadget guy 5-10 times a game. Besides, we already have our “QB converted to WR” in Ted Ginn, so anything we would want White to do, Ginn could do as well.

Yeah I can see White going as early as the second round

we wont take him within our first 4 picks and he will be long gone by then

I'd rather see this team

go for a sure thing rather then spend a high pick on an experiment.
