Does a receiver slide?
Former St. Louis Rams wide receiver Torry Holt agreed to a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday . The Jags have the 8th pick, does this mean they address a different posistion early in the draft? They have Dennis Northcut and Troy Williamson. They could still use some help but maybe this signing means they go in a different direction, Maybe some of the top recievers slide a little bit farther down the board. Probably not, but food for thought...

I have seen
Many mock drafts which have Jeremy Maclin falling to Minnesota! That means that we can have our choice of any WR except Crab and Jmac.

but still don't go WR at pick 25...
if WR slides we can get a top tier guy like Nicks or britt in round 2 probably so why jump when Corner is our glaring need.
Laces out!

right
WR’s will fall, Maclin could be there when we pick at 25, but all that means is there is a better chance of us getting Nicks/Harvin/Britt at pick 44.

Right,
and good point. I was actually wondering to myself..if Maclin does indeed fall to us at 25, does that necessarily mean we pass on him knowing full well we can land, perhaps, Nicks at 44? Or do we take the value and grab Maclin because we don’t originally anticipate him falling to us?
It’s a very interesting point to consider. Value vs. value.

If Maclin falls to 25 and we pass on him, I'll flip out
Unless we use him being there to trade down a few spots and pick up additional picks

Agreed
And the mere fact that he were still there at our pick would fetch us a bounty. So if he fell to us we either take him or get more picks out of it and still land our player shortly thereafter..

Actually we've got the
12th pick from the Redskins so that’s a perfect time for a wideout like Nicks and Britt.
BUT DONT FORGET ROBISKIE!!!!!!!!!!! If Britt and Nicks and Harvin all dont fall to us at number 12, well then there yah have it Robiskie second round steal.

I enjoy speculating on the draft as much as anyone
and it does make for good offseason entertainment.
Still, regardless of what we fans want, everyone knows the Dolphins will take Michael Oher with their first pick………….

Well I wouldnt think that the Jags would have taken a wideout with their first round choice especially with B.J still on the board
but really you have to look at the Rams, and even the Browns in consideration for Crabtree as well and not to mention these teams pick before us along with the Jags and Oakland(if they dont take a wideout) in the second round so Britt or Knicks could go to one of these teams in the early second round,I say we go with Robiskie

exactly thats what I ve been saying
Robiskie is the most amazing wide receiver coming out of this draft. He’s got the highest football IQ of any player on this draft, not to say any recevier and his work ethic is amazing too. He is the best route runner to come out of the draft in years and is more NFL ready than probably Ted Ginn. If this guy slips to our 2nd second rounder we have got to take him.

I disagree
I don’t think Robiskie is the best receiver in the draft, matter fact, i think both he and Britt will be busts…
I’d like Nicks to fall to Miami with pick 2a.

Well yeah the best in the draft is a stretch, but HISTORICALLY
if there are 2 guys that will probably avoid being busts they are precisely Robiskie and Britt. Possesion receviers that are great rout runners and regarded as NFL ready rarely fail.On the other hand, Maclin and Heyward Bey have the greatest chances of being busts, think Tedd Ginn

How do we know that Nicks wont be a bust as well

He's AQ-2
Eh, of course he could be a bust..work ethic might not be too great..I dunno. For some reason I look at him, look at his body of work, and I see a future elite receiver in the NFL.
Might just be me. Really does remind me of ’Quan.

here's my question about Nicks
If he doesn’t have that ridiculous bowl game, does he still get all this buzz? is he still a potential 1st round receiver?
by Matty I on Apr 21, 2009 9:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Not a chance
If not for that game, he probably is a mid round pick, IMO. He just doesn’t run well enough to be a 1st day pick.
by ct1361 on Apr 21, 2009 10:15 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
he runs the best routes in the WR draft class
he is the third best WR behind crabtree and maclin and he will probably be the best rookie WR next year.

oh and yes he would still be looked at even with that HUGE bowl game
he still would have been in the late first round regardless because indy will take him if the guys in front of them dont

But you're also a UNC fan so you're bias
Like me talking about Kenny Britt – which is why I haven’t done it too much (trying to remain objective).
But if you ask me, Britt is the 3rd best WR in this draft after Crabtree and Harvin. But, again, I might be bias even though I am trying not to be.

I've been
a fan of Terry Holt for some time, but that a hefty price tag for a 32 yr old receiver. Good for him. Another good receiver we have to go up against this year.

No way
Robiskie lasts to 2b for us. But I could see someone such as Britt or Nicks with 2a.

If we use that pick for a WR we can still consider Brace at this spot
