Kenny Britt
As the draft gets closer second by second we as fans get more and more excited to see how it unfolds. For months now we have been putting our best scouting hats on and debating and pushing for our favorite guys in the draft. We have some laughs and some frustrating moments, voicing our opinions on what the Fins should pick. And thats the fun in the whole thing pretending we are a NFL Front Office. But the truth is we don't even know these draft prospects, besides what we hear from ESPN, and game films we can get our hands on. Yes some do personally know the players, or interacted with them once or twice or maybe seen them on college campus.
What bothers me is when fans (not just Fin Fans) say oh Percy Harvin has a bad attitude or so and so is a stoner. I have tried not to but I am guilty of it too, but what really gets me is the Kenny Britt talks. Some on here repeat Todd McShay's prima dona or diva phrase and it has caught on like Wild Fire saying Britt has a Plaxico attitude and leaves me Rutger Fans and others confused.
I have met the kid, and seen him practice. He is always go go go, and competed with Underwood on everything. He was nothing but respectful to the sideline viewwes or the RU coaches and never spoke out of turn or had a me attitude, even when breaking Larry Fitzgeralds Big East Records.
But for some reason he is lazy, a diva, a Plaxico and everyone repeats it and it some how becomes truth. Here is a great article about it, and by no way is this a draft Kenny post, I love the player and hope he kicks ass and takes name in the NFL but just frustrated why people who don't even know him say what Todd McShay has said.

Maybe it's just me
but I haven’t really seen the “Britt is a diva” comments flying around on here..
Most of the Britt arguments, at least the ones I’ve seen, center around whether he’s a better pick than Nicks or Harvin or whoever else..

I havent heard those either, however, I do know that there are
“Character” concerns about him. Not specially “diva” like but overall concerns with things like off-the field issues. Less Terrel Owens more Plaxico probably

Sometimes players like him tend to attract those kind of comments, and lots of times it can
just be a miscnception between the “football persona” and the human being. He used to dominate and if you look at his style of play he is also very tough and physical. There is a video of him in youtube playing Safety just for the hell of it and knocking the hell out of the opposing WR so you could see why people might think that. Or it could just be how tough the guy is on the field, opposed to Maualuga who is just a freaking airhead which is much more concerning. (Try and find a video of him pretending to dry hump a espn reporter on the sideline)

I have heard some of the talk about Britt being a "me" player...
but i thought that people said it after he interviewed with teams and not how he acts on the field

By the way...
have you guys heard that Sheldon Brown is requesting a trade from the eagles….Do you all think a move can be made there..Just wondering
by scbrandon on Apr 20, 2009 6:15 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
yeah saw that too earlier on.
well, unless it was for a really low pick it would be hard, this FO cherishes its draft picks like nothing else, and you can see why. Plus, they probably plan to pick up a CB come draft day.

I'm not a fan of Sheldon Brown
I think he’s a little overrated due to the system. Jim Johnson’s defense makes ok CB’s look terrific. see Sheppard, Lito.

i just don't really like any corners in the first round....
give me macho in the 3rd and Smith or Butler in the 2nd and i’m a happy camper
by scbrandon on Apr 20, 2009 6:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
that's the problem
Butler won’t be there in the 2nd. Which Smith are you talking about?
by Little Nicky 21 on Apr 20, 2009 6:24 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think he will...
The only thing about Butler i don’t like is how small the dude is…
by scbrandon on Apr 20, 2009 6:35 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
His 41in vertical makes up for any height questions in coverage
and he plays strong.
by Little Nicky 21 on Apr 20, 2009 6:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
his strong play concerns me...
he hurts himself trying to take someones head off in college..imagine if he tries to lay the lumber to TO. he will be out for the season with a neck injury

I like the aggressive play
much rather have a guy go balls to the wall trying to decleat a WR, than have a Deion who won’t touch a guy unless he’s near the sideline (unless, of course, the guy can also cover like Deion lol)
by Little Nicky 21 on Apr 20, 2009 6:43 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Aggressive play is cool with me too...
but when you can’t bench 225 for 5 reps, there is only so aggressive you can be…
by scbrandon on Apr 20, 2009 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
it's not like he's hitting dumbbells on the field
the dude is in pads, moving fast, and hitting a guy. At that point, benchpressing means diddly.
by Little Nicky 21 on Apr 20, 2009 6:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
you got me on that one..
and i know that Deion is training him so i’ll be happy either way…
by scbrandon on Apr 20, 2009 6:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nicky...
who do you think will draft Butler before we pick in the 2nd… I just dont see it happening
by scbrandon on Apr 20, 2009 6:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
The Pats, for one, perhaps..
hell Pittsburgh or Arizona could easily do it based on BPA alone. That’s not to say I believe they will if we pass on him, and I can’t say he’s BPA until I see how the rest of the round shakes out. But if he’s BPA I’d be shocked if he passed both teams and THEN made it to us some twelve picks later.
by Dave.Phuller on Apr 20, 2009 6:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Pittsburgh is not big on CB's
and Arizona has DRC and both of there philosophies are that if you can get a good pass rush than you don’t have to get a CB early in the draft
by scbrandon on Apr 20, 2009 6:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
all 11 teams that pick before us in round 2 could conceivably take a CB
and Butler, if he even makes it that far, would be the best one on the board by far.
Before us, you have NO, Houston, the Jets, Philly, Minnesota, and NE. Assuming we don’t take him in round 1, he still has to get by BMore, Tennessee, and Pittsburgh, then run the 2nd round gauntlet. I have a difficult time seeing him drop all the way to 25, I think it’s damn near impossible, barring something odd like he blows out his ACL getting out of bed, that he drops all the way to 44.
by Little Nicky 21 on Apr 20, 2009 6:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
we can take a chance on some of the WR, meaning not taking them
in round 1 and hoping they slip down to 44 but there is no way whatsoever that happens with either Butler or Davis. If any of them is there at 44 we are going to take them I assure you. Parcells will take the best player available between LB and CB and given that you can take a comptetitive LB in a later round specially in this draft and that our needs are not ass urgent as in the CB position …

I think that may knock Maclin out of the top 10..
WR’s are fallllllllllllllllling

I dont care if we pass on Harvin/Nicks/Britt with out first pick
but if any of them is still on the board at 44 it would be inadmisible to pass
by MauMontaV5 on Apr 20, 2009 8:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Britt is "flaky"
according to Peter King. Here is a quote from his MMQB: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/peter_king/04/20/draft/1.html
Kenny Britt is flaky. Darrius Heyward-Bey’s hands and route-running are suspect. Hakeem Nicks was overweight and not in great shape when the Ravens worked him out Friday. In other words, the receivers are a suspect group, and a few of them we thought would be picked in the first round are going in the second.
If Nicks is overweight, he drops. Harvin can’t pass a drug test. Sounds like Crabtree and Maclin will be the only WR’s taken in the 1st round.
by ct1361 on Apr 20, 2009 11:07 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
yes sir it sounds likely, and come to think to it, its awesome
If these character problems dont concer Parcells too much then a team in desperate need of a playmaker (dont mention the guys we already have, they are solid but they are not playmakers period) at WR can not possibly pass on a 1st round talent wideout in the second round for second round money.
by MauMontaV5 on Apr 20, 2009 11:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
hmm
Sounds like Crabtree and Maclin will be the only WR’s taken in the 1st round.
Been saying that for a while, and I got ridiculed for it because “there’s no way Nicks and Britt make it to round 2” lol
We’ll see. WR’s drop again, Crab goes 6 to Cincy, Maclin goes 26 to BMore.
by Little Nicky 21 on Apr 21, 2009 4:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
mmm Maclin dropping all the way down to 26 seems a bit of a reach
And even if he was dropping so much then probably New York or Phily would try to trade up. However thats not what worries me, the scenario is the same if both crabtree and maclin go in the top10 or top15 or 26 to Baltimore, meaning that when the time comes that Phily and New York pick, I am not so sure that they gonna pass on both Britt and Nicks. It would be awesome if they fell to the 2nd and we could snag one of them and even Harvin. Thats first round talent right there, just look at last year the WR who went in the 2nd, both are good wideouts but not the kind #1 WR material we are looking for. If from some reason the 3 of them are still there at the board I just dont know if you can pass on them because of your philosophy. Especially if they would be planning to use that pick on a LB (cause the good corners are going to be long gone) then I think it would be a mistake. This is a deep draft and you can find yourself a very good ILB starting in round 3, but not a sepcial wide out like these guys. Get yourself a 1st Round Talent wide receiver with a 2nd round pick for 2nd round money and start developing to be able to step up when Henne is ready.
