As the Buffalo Bills just got done completing a deal that sent away disgruntled Pro-Bowl lineman Jason Peters, some of you may think that this has nothing to do with the Dolphins, but you are wrong, because this trade has everything to do with not only the Miami Dolphins, but basically every team in the NFL that will be drafting in the first 40 picks on draft day.
The Philadelphia Eagles acquired Peters, so now they do not need a lineman. That frees up a potential pick such as Eben Britten, or even Michael Oher if he is still there, to the teams that pick later in the 1st round, or early in the 2nd. But, the Bills will now be looking to add a lineman to their roster to replace the big shoes of Peters. So, instead of picking up someone to help out with their pass-rush, they will be passing on someone like Aaron Maybin, and taking someone like Andre Smith.
When the Bills take a lineman, that will handcuff the Washington Redskins into taking a pass-rusher instead of maybe taking a lineman such as Smith. Maybe they will instead, pick Maybin to help out their team. Then, when the Redskins take a pass-rusher, then the rest of the league will be in a frenzy, and this, my friends, is how players drop out of their expected positions in the draft.
Now that the draft is little than a week away, the frenzy has started, and with only one little trade! Hopefully, this trade will shakeup the league so much that someone unexpected falls to the Phins at #25 who they will be willing to scoop up. Maybe, a player will fall just enough for the Trifecta to be convinced to make a move for them and trade up just a couple of spots to nab them. Rey Mauluga comes to mind, or maybe Brian Cushing.
This trade looks out like it is playing out in a lot of teams favors besides the Eagles and Bills.
