PrintI'll be honest - I think the NFL has really overblown this NFL schedule release event. Yes, I'm very excited to see when the Dolphins will play their 16 games in 2009. And I'm especially interested in seeing how many, if any, prime time games the Dolphins will get. But having to release the schedule in prime time? And having a 2 hour television special for it? That's a bit much, don't you think. After all, we've known since December who the Dolphins will face in 2009. We just didn't know when.
But the NFL being the NFL, they have made this schedule release into a prime time event. The actual schedule will be released online at NFL.com at 7 pm eastern. Also at 7 pm, NFL Network will air a 2 hour special that will dissect and breakdown the schedule. I think that's a bit of overkill - but hey, football talk is football talk, I suppose.
Please use this thread for any and all discussion about the 2009 NFL schedule. Please do not make any additional fanposts about the schedule. All that will do is clog up the boards.
I won't be around at 7 pm when the schedule is released. But when I get home, I will do a front-page post that will list all 16 games as well as whatever random thoughts I have on the schedule. So there's no need to create a ton of other posts about the schedule. I will just delete them anyways - so don't bother wasting your time. If you want to share your thoughts on the Dolphins' 2009 schedule, do so either in this thread or in the comments of the front-page post I will make later on tonight.

I won’t lie, when I saw the comment for over under at 3.5, I laughed like crazy. I thought we would be good with 1. 4 is just insane. Only way to say it: R E S P E C T! We finally got it, the Tuna has brought us to where we all wanted to be.

the Colts
are old and will start slow………the Jets will be our bitch for the next 3-4 yrs……….the Pats game will be a War, with one team trying to sweep the other, in our crib………and Carolina with there punishing running game, good defense and steve smith………..Damn I wish the season would start on Sunday……..
at Carolina will be TOUGH

Damn that first Pats game
they will be coming off there bye………
we have a nice cold weather schedule
as in it wont be cold. we finish off with 2 home games and before that are two away games in tennessee and jacksonville, not the coldest places at all
The first 3 weeks are brutal
3 playoff teams. Atl on the road week 1. Indy at home on monday night week 2. Chargers on the road week 3. The charger game is just wrong after a monday night, short week, and travel across country. 2-1 would be great in this stretch. I think I would even settle for 1-2 and still feel good about the season.

sheesh – houston is the only one they’ll be favored in and we know what houston does to the fins.

Both Short Weeks
are on the road against playoff teams: SD and Car. We have known for a while what teams they were going to play home games and away games. But the way they are spread out through the schedule sucks.

That game against SD
will be a bettors dream. Some of the surest bets in the NFL are betting against a team playing on the road after MNF. You throw in the cross country travel, because eastern time zone teams traditionally don’t play well on the west coast, and that will mean a lot of action on SD.
If I was a betting man (which I am) I would jump all over this game if the phins weren’t in it.
All i got to say
all i hav to say is finally the dolphins get a little recognition. They get 4 primetime games,4.(even tho they get a freekin NFL Network game which pisses me off). Anyway we’ll hav to wait and see how they do verse tuf compition. Honestly they’ll probly be .500 unless they get a big play offensive player.

this is a terrible schedule….
unless they start Henne right at the start (week 4-6) it looks like we’ll be stuck with CP for the full 16… don’t see
any play they can put him in to take over that will be a soft spot to give him a couple of nice home games to get his feet wet – except for week 4 and onward with buffalo, ny jets, bye, saints, at jets…. after that point it gets ugly unless you want to pull a cam and throw him to the road fans.

well unhappily this is a DARK DAY for any Henne fans…. and likely any dolphin fans… cause with this schedule the playoffs do not look likely.

whish i could take credit for it
but Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano started using that in there pressers 2 weeks ago… it was sort of intended for JT -
with the idea that signing him stunted the development of the young players by taking up valuable playing time…
but as Lefty and I discussed – how it applies to a JT and a V Holliday as they cited but not to a CP was beyond us.
but the Phrase is one of the greatest i’ve heard in a long time.
