411 on Travis Daniels

Hello Dolphin fans,

It was reported last week that your former cornerback, Travis Daniels, was scheduled to visit Kansas City. Until the report I had never heard of the kid but upon researching him I was pleased to learn how young he was, how high he was drafted, and what system he came out of from college. My question to you guys is, why was he not re-signed? I understand you guys aren't neccessarily deep at cornerback and I respect Parcells as a good evaluator of talent, so for what reasons was he let go? I'm interested to hear your guys opinion(s) on Daniels and what you learned about him while he played in Miami

Thanks in advance for any replies

He....well........he sucked

Saban refused to pick anyone he wasnt familar with in the SEC. The kid played for him at LSU….and he was desperate to get someone here that knew the in’s and out’s of his crappy system. He got beat all the time and we eventually traded him for the garage sale price of a 7th round pick.

If i were a team i would spend a 4th rd pick on a CB and get a guy twice as good as him..sorry to burst ur bubble…but he isnt that great.

He came out of LSU

I want to say he was drafted in the 4th round he has pretty good size 6"1 195 he played in 14 games his rookie season and played fairly well, but injuries and his lack of playmaking soon cost him

Also...

Daniels was traded by Cam Cameron while he was cleaning house. I think it was a prior to us trading Chambers for a 2nd.

The main problem I always saw from Daniels is that he's sloooooooow

He’s just under 6’1 and ran a 4.59 40 at the Combine….and he plays even slower than that.

Good tackler, from what I remember, though. But he’ll get beat a lot.

And he had clown feet...

Always on the ground.

Foy was right though, he did play well in his first season, after learning some of Satan’s magnum opus defense. What a schmuck that guy was.

Hey Rzayo,

VIRTUAL SUCKER PUNCH

That’s for talking about my sister, whose name just happens to be Will Poole.

Why not sign him, you already tried Poole

Will Poole was also a corner drafted by the dolphins in the 4th round (2004 draft though) that left the Dolphins and was signed by Kansas City. I don’t think he even made it to the regular season with the chiefs though.

I would expect roughly the same results from Daniels, our 2005 4th round corner selection..

Nice analogy

Yes, Poole didn’t even make it out of preseason. I believe he’s in the CFL now..

Out of any positions, I’d say CB is our greatest depth so he certainly wouldnt be a starter. I haven’t heard if he’s visited Denver yet so I’m wondering if he’s been signed

Volume in Denver

Denver is taking the volume approach to free agency and signing anyone they can get to come visit.
If he visits Denver, he’s leaving with a contract. And the Chiefs would be better off for it.

There was a time when i was optimistic about both Poole and Daniels after they each played pretty well very early in their respective careers. Both are now considered dead weight.

But they haven't at least been bad signings

They’ve been making moves in FA and some of the acquistions will be key pick ups, IMO

well there is a difference

poole looked REAL good – likely was going to be a steal and then he shredded the knee i think… missed the year and wasn’t ever the same… he clearly lost that IT….

where as Daniels played pretty well the rookie year in saban’s wacked out system to confuse his team for the first 8 games and the other team for the next 8 games…. but then like his career at LSU kind of went the other way….

it wouldn’t surprise me if he is out of the nfl next year nor would it surprise me if the guy ever puts it together and has a 10 year career.

yeah Poole could have been good

Its a damn shame he shredded his knee.
