Another Cowboy Bites the DUST - Cut R.Williams
After attempts to trade the five-time Pro Bowl safety failed, the Cowboys decided to release Williams, their No. 1 draft pick in 2002. Williams confirmed his release Thursday morning in a text message.
By cutting Williams, the Cowboys save roughly $2 million in salary-cap space in 2009 and close the book on a player who was once the face of the franchise.

Parcells interest?
Some folks are saying that they expect Parcells to bring Roy here. Anyone think he could play linebacker?

Linebacker
I can’t see bringing him over to play safety….. can you?

No i don't
Because of the Wilson signing, but i think Tuna would have brought in Williams over Wilson if he had the chance.

But not our LBs
This FO likes much more size at LB.
Besides it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

Depends on price
I like Culver as a backup, but not big on Bryan at all.
If Bell goes down with an injury again, we could use some additional support.
if Williams isn’t looking for big money, I think he could provide good depth at safety.
If he still thinks he’s a starter and wants starter money, then no thanks.

He could carry Beck's clipboard
So that Beck isn’t too over worked…

I honestly think he could play OLB.
Good blitzer, tackler, and can’t be any worse in coverage than Matt Roth

Roth is 260
Porter is 245
Roy is 215
He could play LB in a Tampa 2 scheme, like maybe in Indy where Cato June (right about 225) thrived.
He’s WAAAAY too small to play anything but safety in a 3-4. The only way I could think that we could use him is in a 2-4-5 Nickel set where he would be one of the 4 backers blitzing or dropping into a coverage. But I don’t even think we run a set like that.

I still think he could be an upgrade as an OLB for us
but I expect Cameron Wake to be starting over Roth anyways
