Dolphins Give Exclusive Workout to Nicks
<!--StartFragment-->
Two of the three parts of the Trifecta, Tony Sparano, and Bill Parcells, have made the trip to North Carolina to conduct a private workout with wide receiver prospect Hakeem Nicks. This is not just any workout, because you see, Bill Parcell simply does not travel a couple hundred miles for just anybody, heck, he didn’t even travel with the Dolphins on their road trips! So, this workout means something. Perhaps it means that despite the lack of depth in the secondary, and the need for a pass rusher, perhaps they will choose to address the wide receiver problem if Nicks is still on the board when the Dolphins go on the clock.
Nicks is the perfect solution to the Dolphins wide receiver problem. He is tall, physical, and will catch anything that comes near him. He also possess the speed to break away from defenders in the open field. Nicks was clocked running a 4.49 40 yard dash at the 2009 NFL Combine on a slow track, so he is not the fastest receiver in the draft, but fast enough for the Dolphins to consider him in the 1st round of the draft.
Some other prospects are Darrius Heyward-Bey, who ran one of the fastest 40 times at the NFL Combine, Kenny Britt, and the sleeper is 6' 6 Ramses Barden, who would likely be selected in the late 3rd round, or even on the 2nd day!
The fact that Parcells made the trip is convincing enough for me to think that the Trifecta has narrowed down the filed of prospects that they think deserve to be selected at the 25 spot in the draft. We have obviously found out who one of those few is, but what about the others?

Only in the Second Round...
I don’t think it’ll be at No. 25. If the team drops back a little in the first, maybe. But the more likely senario is that Hakeem is picked in the second round. Possibly at No. 44 when the Dolphins pick.
Even some good wide receivers last year fell in the first round. This year will be no different.
I still even believe that the team will pick a running back in the second too. I’d like to see Rashaad Jeenings out of Liberty in a Dolphins uniform.

Not in the 1st round
CB is allot bigger need…..the ONLY WR I can see us taking in the 1st is Harvin.

Harvin may be available at 44 anyway
WR’s will probably drop a bit again. Crab is the only guaranteed 1st rounder IMO. Maclin, Nicks, Britt, Heyward-Bey, and Harvin all could go anywhere from 7 to Sunday, so it’s still a toss-up. Although I think Jacksonville will be praying hard for Crab to drop to them, because they have NO receivers right now. If Crabtree goes early, I think the Jags take Maclin at 8.

i agree with the first part of your comment....
from a business standpoint and from what I have read and heard on the radio shows the fins will probably not address wide receiver with the first few picks….
with that being said I love nicks and would love to be surprised by that pick….
i also like macklin…that guy is gonna be good……
Just one man's opinion.

haha
Hakeem will be everybody’s Kryptonite apparently.
I want Nicks. Outside of Crabtree or Maclin, who don’t have a chance to fall to us either way, Nicks is probably my favorite receive in this year’s draft. With pick 44 this would be a great selection that I would back 100%.

We could still
take Smith or Butler and hopefully Nicks will fall to us at 44..or perhaps Billy P will package one of those later picks with the 44th (or even the 56th) and move up to the very early 2nd. So many possibilities.

This is such an unpredictable draft over the past few years most wideouts droped into the second round like flies
this year their are some teams who really have you asking yourself are they going to take a wide out with their first round choice teams like OAK,JAC,Philly, and the Giants(depending on Plex situation) lets just say Crab,Mac,Bey and Britt are off the board do you guys really think Knicks will fall to us and I really have a guy feeling if he does we will pass

You're right, it does mean something,
but what it means might not be what you think.
Parcell’s doesn’t like to draft receivers early, his track record shows evidence of this. So, Ireland and Sparano MAY be big on him and are doing the best they can to convince Parcell’s that he might be a good option at WR or for trade bait.
Honestly, I think it’s more likely that they are doing this so that a team will get desperate and trade up to our #25 pick for Nicks (The Colts and Giants are two teams that immediately come to mind). We are going to end up with another 6th or 7th round pick.

Harvin
Sparano and Parcells also went to the Florida pro-day to check out Percy Harvin.

I am lovin this
Nicks is a beast and if you dont believe he is deserving of the first round pick you have obviously not seen his bowl game performance
as far as our CB position goes i hope the trifecta looks at macho harris the guy is underrated in my eyes
