Herald Reports: Phins make offer to D. Faggins

• The Dolphins, who have shopped John Beck, brought Fresno State quarterback Tom Brandstater (a potential midround draft pick) to their headquarters last week . . . The Dolphins made an offer to free agent cornerback Demarcus Faggins, and ''it's a possibility'' he could sign, agent Robb Nelson said. The Titans and the Browns are also in the mix.

Slowly but surely Jason Allen is being buried deeper & deeper.... can we offically call him a BUST?

Demarcus Faggins huh, I think a couple of our fellow phinsiders were mentioning him in the begining of Free Agency.

here we go again

just waiting for the nay-birds to come out and tell us why this is an indication of failure for this season.

From last week:

Faggins visited with the Tennessee Titans. And today he is scheduled to visit the Cleveland Browns. Miami, Cleveland and Tennessee are all looking for depth at cornerback.

So Texans fans think he sucks. fine. but other teams had an interest and at the end of the day, he is probably being brought in because 1) he has talent/potential, and 2) to create competition. one thing i have noticed about the “triad” is that they don’t just bring in guys for competition. they bring in guys that have potential and, for whatever reason, have not succeeded. I think that they believe that some of these guys will still develop under the right coaches.
IMO

just because they sign him

absolutely does NOT mean they are not going to go after a CB early. I would still expect that they know this is one of the major weaknesses on the team, and will grab one in the first 3 rounds.

What they mean is.........

They have asked other teams that have Qb issues as far depth goes if they areinterested in Beck. I ma quite sure that a few of those teams are probably Chicago, Houston and maybe even a few others. The thing is they brought in someone from Kansas State I believe to work out for them. So I would not be surprised if they get rid of beck right before or during the draft. I can see the Trifecta just picking up a guy off of the late rounds or undrafted FA.

Yeah I figured we were shopping him but the way yuma wrote is made it sound like we already got rid of Beck

Instead of the dolphins who have shopped Beck it should be the dolphins who are trying to shop Beck

no no no

trying to shop him and shop him are the same thing. Shopping your QB just means you’re testing the waters to see if there’s interest. Like fishing. Beck is dangling on the end of the hook right now. We haven’t got a bite, so there’s no deal coming as of yet.

oh, and i don't think you call J. Allen a bust yet.

i think that they are going to bring him to TC unless they can get good trade value. the opinion seems to be that he is talented and solid at CB until he breaks discipline. he seems to have lapses where he forgets what he is taught and freelances. If the coaches can get him to settle down and maintain his role responsibility, he might be a keeper. if not, he is likely gone. i would say he is definitely on double secret probation.

I agree

bring in Frodo’s distant relative MR. Faggins, he’s just there for some competetion an if he so happens to do well he will be 4ht or 5th on depth chart, as for JA I think he’s going to surprise alot of people this year , my guess is at best he starts opposite WA or plays nickel behind who ever we draft (hopefulley Sean Smith) regardless competetion brings out the best in everyone so keep them coming as long as it’s at a good price, I like it!

I'd like to think that Allen will shine this year.

I hope that consistency of coaching and position will allow him to excel. The dude is not too far removed from being a rookie because he has been moved around and hasn’t had any stability in his young career. Lets face it Goodman was pretty weak until our current coaching staff got him. A lot of people were screaming for Goodman to be replaced last year and now he is a “key free agent.” Give Allen this year with our coaches and our new Safety teams to help. If he flops this year then I’ll be the first to hand the “bust” banner on him. But as the cool dude on Gladiator says: “not yet. . .not yet.”

12-4 in 2009.

I agree to some extent…… but allen was coached by the same people that coached goodman who wasnt a key free agent IMO…. I was all over allen this time last year i was the leader of the bandwagon, becks too.. so obviously i dont know shit….
