Mock Draft Help (Updated w/ Poll)
Howdy folks... greetings from WCG! We are just kicking off our version of the mock draft, and I am picking for the Dolphins this year. I love Bill Parcells, but realize he is as hard to figure out as anybody when it comes to the NFL draft.
I have been lurking here at the Phinsider to try and get an idea of who you think the Dolphins will select, but there seems to be a lot of different ideas.
Let's assume that you don't trade your 1st round pick... who is it going to be? I know that there has been a ton of debate... so for keeping it simple, just list the player, school, and a brief reason why you think the Phins will make the pick.
With the 25th pick in the 2009 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins select...

The way I see it right now...
…there are a number of ways you could make a “mock pick” and come out looking good.
Linebacker – Any of the 3 USC LBs would make sense. NIU’s Larry English is pretty popular. Virginia’s Clint Sintim is enticing because he played his college ball with Al Groh – a friend of Parcells – and spent his college career as an OLB in a 3-4. Connor Barwin is rising now, too – though he’s more raw being a former TE who converted this past season to defense.
Cornerback – This is probably Miami’s biggest need. But Parcells isn’t known to typically spend 1st round picks on corners. And if he was to, all bets are off as to which one they’d take. They’ve at least been connected in some way with Vontae Davis, Darius Butler, and Sean Smith (to name a few).
Wide Receiver – Much of the mainstream media wants Miami to take a WR at 25. And while it would be nice to find a legit #1, I’m not so sure Parcells will spend that high of a pick on one. If they were to, I think Kenny Britt (who they are working out privately) and Hakeem Nicks would be solid picks for them. Brian Robiskie is a fan favorite, too, but wouldn’t be an option until round 2 it seems.
Sean Smith 6-3 209 4.47 CB Utah
They need a corner opposite Will Allen.
they face Randy Moss and Terrell Owens (maybe, maybe not) twice a year. He will alleviate their matchup problems against tall wide receivers.
Joining the "Draft Sean Smith in the First Round" Bandwagon even though he could lift 225 lbs only 10 times
One of the 3 USC lbs or if Maybin is still there
the phins have scouted him. V. Davis, Barwin or even Sintim though I believe they could get him later.
25th pick - Clay Mathews LB USC
44th pick - Alphonso Smith cb Wake Forest
56th pick - Clint Sintim LB Virginia
86th pick - Fili Moala DT USC
I think you have to look LB
Like Matty or Blaze said…USC LBs…

I think linebacker is the safe bet...
However i’m gonna go out on a limb and say they draft Connor Barwin out of Cincinatti…
I wish I could give you an idea but it all depends on who's there at the pick
Look at our community mock draft Jenkins fell to Miami that is unreal so I will try to give out some guys who I think may still be on the board when you pick (hopefully)
1.Clay Matthews
2.Darius Butler-in my personal opinion corner is our biggest need and I think Miami takes him over Smith(I like Smith better though)
3.Larry English
4.Aaron Maybin-It’s either Boom or Bust for this kid but Miami spent a good time with him
5.Percy Harvin/Hakeem Knicks (who may fall a bit because of a bad pro-day)Kenny Britt
Ahhhh Ta Ta Ta Ta Bye Bye Foy518
Thanks for all the info...
I’ll take the names here and add a poll.
