should the Fins make a play for warner
As the days of FA wind down, Arizona is still playing hard to get with their Super Bowl QB... (would anyone expect less from Arizona and the Bidwells)...
Since this Admin is stuck on the idea that they need a caretaker QB to lead the team until some day in the future when they'll feel the need to right the leading cause of mediocrity for the franchise the last 10 years.... (no long term solution at the most important position on the field....
Is it time to make a play for the 3x superbowl QB....
the move has the following positive...
the team gets to trade Pennington (most likely for something in the late 2nd to 3rd round pick)
the team gets a QB who just lead a team to the superbow and has been to 2 others....(when was the last time the phins had a superbowl QB)
the team gets a strong armed QB who can get the ball deep - something that T Ginn hasn't had the last 2 years. and with the strong arm it has the additional positives... Warner is a good play action QB as teams have to respect his deep threat arm and T Ginns spead which means the safties have to play deeper... which opens up the inside running lanes for R Brown... so warner opens up a deep passing game AND improves the running game.
Warner has shown himself to be a great mentor to young QB's, unlike penne who reports indicated turned the team against K Clemmens, not only says PC things but actually LIVES and ACTs by those words.
now the only negatives i see... signing warner will cost a heck of a lot more and likely will eat up any remaing cap space and maybe some more...
Warner has a history of getting hurt and playing poorly (but then so does penne)

No thank you, Mrs. Cleaver. I really must be getting home. We're having squab this evening.
What about pasta & noodles as one/two more entree’s? Then we can go to Henne and feast like Wally?

Sorry, better qualify...
Henne is a restaurant in Berlin.
And we all know who Wally is? Right?

LOL
I gotta give you props……….I mean……you’re just so bullheaded and diehard when it comes to the Pennington question. NO WAY IN HELL do we take Warner! I just put a post up that was totally in jest and to be funny, and you know what? I think your’s is way better! LOL You need to do what every good Casino kid in Las Vegas does…….“DEAL WITH IT” Pennington is here until Henne outplays him and takes the spot. That the way it is…… With Sparano saying that Henne would have been our starter, had the Pennington not happened, gives me some belief that the Triumverata ( I agree this is cooler than Trifecta) knows what the hell they are doing. WNY…..you are awesome, and this board wouldn’t be the same without you. lol

i am dealing with it
yup – i know these guys will never play henne and i’m stuck with a caretaker until they go….. (heck that statue Bledsoe would still be starting in dallas had JJ not intervened)….
so what i’m proposing is upgrading the Caretaker – it’s not Penne vs Henne …. it’s Caretaker vs. Caretaker (a good one who lead 3 teams to the superbowl to one who watched one once)…
If we have to have one lets at least get a good one.

Eh-
he has got a better arm than Penne- but its not like he has a rocket arm. I just get the feeling at his age, his deep ball doesn’t look quite the same if its not Fitz going up to get it. As far as mentoring- I haven’t seen anything reported other than him helping out both Henne and Beck. If he turned anyone against Clemmens, all I can say is – haha! I hope you have to use another draft pick on a QB.
Plus Warner wants like $12-14 mill a year. Then again. . . he does like Tim Tebow. . .

lol- no
I mean he is a fan of Tim Tebow. LOL – I just read a story about Warner calling him about some charity work and just offering some advice.
If he likes my boy Tebow he’s OK in my book ;)

is he a future Dolphin though?
Warner is a faith based QB, and so is Tebow……….no problems with that. I love the fact that Warner prayed for long hair for his wife………I mean, in the Rams days when she was sportin’ the “East German Swimmer” look, it was kinda creepy………the power of prayer will provide results……..it may not be a Super Bowl, but you’re wife won’t look so creepy on t.v. and make the Rosie O’Donnells wet themselves.

So what you're saying
is if he got the wife to look “less Creepy” that maybe he can connect with Becky and teach him not to fumble every third snap???
so it would be a 3 for none move – get rid of penne (positive) get a superbowl QB (positive) and turn a blown 2nd round draft pick into something less of a mess?
welcome aboard doggie.

I really
have to assume you are joking when you say Warner can teach somebody NOT to fumble?

yeah bad joke
kind of liked it myself – figured there both faith guys they both have issues holding onto the ball and if warner is able to perform a miricale why not get becky to hold onto the football.

until KC took over and then him and his BFF coles spit the team…
heck BFF was still crying about not having pasta everyday at the end of last year….
and rumors suggest it’s one of the reasons he gave up 6 mil to walk.

All of the options you gave were plain out "silly" (im not getting banned for you) and biased as you always are
Why in the hell would you bring in a QB in the verge of retirement that has already stated his wishes to play for a team that is ready to contend deep into the playoffs, into a team that is right in the middle of a rebuilding process with half the talent Aquinas High lines up at WR??
I wont even say the old tired “we are trying to get young” line
You yourself are being a hypocrite, you had it written right there in your sig or in one of your posts that "i cant wait to have a true franchise Qb …. so what, now you want to get yourself a 38 years old care taker instead of a 32?? there goes your logic …
And from a football standpoint, this is just silly as nothing else could be. You are telling me that you want to play Warner for 2 years, and then see him retire just when our rebuilding process is complete and we have all the pieces together to make a run to the super bowl, but wait, lining up a first time starter Qb??? we would be a dejavu from this year´s Green Bay.
I think you dropped the ball here, if you just want to see Penny gone then put all your efforts into starting Henne this season but dont throw around this bs.
And by the way, football wise you just lost all respect I had for you
So lets use some logic for once please just for once lets see lets see mmmm i got it
Your version of the facts: Penne worked against his understudy.
Sources: “Reports”, “unfounded hatred against a guy you have never met”
My version of the facts: Penne is a heck of a mentor
Sources: John Beck (3rd string QB for the Miami Dolphis), Chad Henne (2nd string QB for the Miami Dolphins.
So now. From your standpoint, Arm is everything when it comes to the QB position. Chad s got a crappy arm. Then he is a crappy Qb. Ok we got it. But now, I guess, and really im just taking a wild guess, you have never played pro football for a team that just went 1-15, you have no idea of what a player and his intangibles can do to lift his teammates spirits and confidence. said-sport is 90% mental, as many great athletes have said. so lets now pretend that his actual teammates have a better grasp of Chads importance to the team than we actually do, and again, thats another wild guess. Because we talk like we know everyting there is to know about the Dolphins, on and off the field. So lets give these guys a chance to tell us why Chad is such a huge asset to this team.
Vernon Carey:
‘Coach [Tony Sparano] was like, `Come on! Come on! Come on!’ and Chad just said, ‘Calm down, coach. We got it,’ ‘’ Carey recalled. ``You sit there and, wow, somebody who just stood up to the coach. Like, `Hey, man, we’ve got this.’
``I guess Coach respected him for that, and all the players respected him for that.’’
’’Leadership’’ tops the short list of the few NFL assets not quantified by any clock, tape or Byzantine formula.
Andre Goodman:
‘’I think once we saw Chad [Pennington] come into our locker room that preseason game, when he actually entered our locker room, the atmosphere felt different,’’ cornerback Andre’ Goodman said. ``It’s kind of like you can see a leader walk in.’’
Sparano
‘’His work ethic is pretty contagious, and I think that when they see a guy has been in the league eight, nine, 10 years, and this guy is doing what he’s doing, I think that all of a sudden these guys figure out that this has got to be the right way,’’
This guy brought attitude to a team that lacked any of it, this guy brought the attitude such a sport like this requires to win. And what would his teammates take if you asked them, a rocket arm or this thingy called attitude??? let Andre Goodman answer that for you
‘’When the whole team sees that, attitude changes,’’ Goodman said. ``It just does. Attitude is a lot when it comes to playing this game"
So please start giving some credit to this guy, and if you dont want to, then stop pretending you know what it takes from a Qb to win a super bowl or not.

deep breath my friend
I certainly don’t want you banned to relax….
let me throw a couple numbers at you 32-29 yup career regular season record of the great one…. 2-4 in the playoffs
after all of his greatness, why is he a 500 QB? why can’t he win in the playoffs? because he has great limitations – ie a weak arm – or more exactly he is unable to make some of the throws needed to suceed in the NFL.
as to my opinion – well, I think everyone around here BUT you knows i’ve been saying that they should be playing Henne, Beck, or some kid QB at Aquinas High who has a chance to be a franchise QB….. but the issue of caretaker vs playing the future isn’t the debate here….
the point is this coaching staff is committed to playing veteran QB’s (not my belief for this franchise but if i have to live another few years with it then) why not get a quality starting QB instead of a mediocre one.
as to the receivers – don’t know – they look pretty good to me…. they run good routes, have good hands and make tough catches. T ginn is often open and in single coverage once he get 15-20 yards down field (why do you think that is – the single coverage)….
as to your quotes – i only ask – what are they suppose to say – hey penne sucks – i’m much better then him and if Sparano didn’t hate rookies we’d be starting? and if you want me to diminish your quotes further …. i’ll go dig up what VC and goodman use to say about Cleo Lemon….

Fair enough, I agree with you in everything football wise, what i
mean by the quotes and everything is that this is a sport were leadership and intangibles mean so much for these guys. You can measure arm strength but you cant measure heart. And sometimes in the huddle, these guys will pick a guy that will have their backs everytime anywhere over the awesome athlete. Bottomline, I think Chad is much more important to this team that we could ever imagine. He isnt just a mentor on the field, he is also a mentor off the field, conducts bible sessions in his house for teammates, a lot of them which grew up to be troubled guys with drug and family issues. And at the end of the day, I trully believe football has a deeper meaning that W and L, and when there is a guy that can bring that to a team, to an organization and to a fan base overall I am going to love every part of it. When I have a kid I wont tell him about the guy who could throw the 60 yarder or the 5 yard bullet, I´ll tell him about that cindirella story in which a bunch of nobodies, from a noodle arm QB to an undrafted ex convict to a walk on at stanford, just made it happen. Just made it happen

I agree with you 100% about Chad!!!
I would love to win a Superbowl with him!!!!!
I will always support him as long as they let him play!!!!
He was one of the big reasons for turnaround last season!!!!
And no one can deny it!!!
Sure he could have done better in the playoffs, but enough negativity. Time to look forward

Couple a' things
1. He’s might be a bit pricey.
2. Kurt Warner said he liked it Arizona and was hoping to stay.
3. We got Penne/Henne!! It’s good at QB right now.

signing warner would allow the team to TRADE penne…
so you’d get a better/more talented starter and and extra draft pick.
