If he signs the tender, he'll make almost $15mil next season. Another team will need to give NE Two 1st round picks in order to sign Cassel away. I think this is a smart move by NE, because there's no guarantee Brady will be back to full strength. He's had a couple major setbacks since his surgery, so they need to keep the backup plan around.
