Normally, I would just put something like this in a fanshot. However, this is a pretty serious rumor to be putting out there. Check out this post by Omar Kelly.
You may notice that after he breaks down Vernon Carey's new deal, he kind of non-chalantly mentions the following:
I'm told by someone in the know Bill Parcells knows exactly how he's going to use that No. 25 pick. He's got a certain player targeted, and is willing to move up for him if the Dolphins have to.
That is a pretty serious item to declare, especially as an after thought. Does anyone here really think Parcells has his draft board that set, before the combine or pro days or anything? Obviously, he is going to base his pick more off of football tape than measurables at a track meet. That being said, do you think he would at least want to see how these guys do compared to their peers directly, how they interview and interact with people, or how they prepare for this event?
I have to question Kelly on this one. Who exactly is "in the know"? Parcells isn't exactly known for having a leaky organization. Who could he trust enough to tell something like this who would then go and leak it? Also, many people in the organization have stated that they are in the business of collecting draft picks, not giving them up- what prospect may possibly be available at 25, but is worth trading up for?
Sounds unlikely to me- any thoughts?
